Committee Musings.

Good evening all, Well the time has come for the calendar to see the light of day, after much deliberation and discussion the committee has signed off on a great calendar for all, not too many club shows but plenty of chances for all to get a run when required. Kwinana has changed the Fast Friday series to the Fast Series which now incorporates Saturday Shows as well, this gives us a chance to run in front of bigger crowds, the club has elected not to have all these shows as club points rounds, but plenty of drivers have expressed interest in running the full series, a mini series run by Kwinana rather than the club. We are running two of the four Bunbury Car Club Shows, but we have around eight drivers going to run all 4 of the shows, most of the south west drivers are going to join the Bunbury car club, to show our support for the club and the great work being done by the Car Club in making Bunbury a great track to race at. We have left Moora on the calendar, this will allow North and South to meet on neutral soil at least once for the year. Carnarvon was dropped from the calendar because the committee received a lot of information from members who felt the current economic climate made the costs uneconomic for most of the teams, it would cost the club more than $4,000.00 just to get the officials to Carnarvon and accommodate them, this money it was felt was better off with the competitors than spent on officials costs, it was regretful that we could not go, it was a popular choice until the economics were looked at, but that is how it goes, sometimes it just does not work out the way we would all like. Geraldton still gets its 3 great meetings, with the Old Boys still the premier event, the club in reducing the number of meetings really hopes we will get more of the Southerner's travelling to Geraldton this year, we need to break the stranglehold they are starting to get on this track/event, we want a Southerner to win this year. We are running World Series and the Krikke Boys again, these two meetings are up there with the Muster and The Old Boys as the events most of our drivers want to race at. The Muster is over two nights this year, Friday and Saturday, making it a big weekend for us all. State Title- Wish I could give you something on this, all I can say is it should be at one of the meetings on the calendar, we are looking at all the options and hope to have something to the members in the next 2 to 3 weeks. That's it, a big year, we want the car count to be up on the last couple of years, there are a few new drivers, the club has never been in such a strong position and under Martin's guidance we will continue to see the club prosper. We would love to get another couple of good sponsors, so if you have some leads send them to club@limitedsprintcars.com.au and Debbie will pass them onto the committee. See you trackside soon, only 3 months and we are on. Catch you Crabby

Knoxville night one over.

Well another great night at the "Hallowed Clay" of Sprintcar racing is over. As usual the start was late, with thirty trucks trying to roll in the racing surface, never understand why the sprintcars cant do it, but hey if that's all that there is to complain about then there is nothing to complain about. The racing was great, close running and a lot of passing for Knoxville, and most amazing was there was not a crash the entire night. Time trials were run and Lynton Jeffery had it in the bag, then out came Paul McMahon and got just under Lynton, Lynton had the car speed all night, a few mistakes from pushing hard to make the transfer to the A in his heat saw him finish about 6th, enough for front row of the B, which he ultimately finished 2nd in and transferred to the main show. Other Australians, Glen Saville tried hard but was outclassed all night. J Mac- J Mac ran 2nd or 3rd in his heat and transferred to near the rear of the A, he had his highs and lows, making some good ground in the A but some poor line choices mid race saw him drop back towards the rear of the A. Ian Madsen- Ian made it to the A, was in a top 4 position, but dropped a couple of spots, he then had front wing damage which cost him and he pulled in to change the wing on an orange light, this put him rear of field on the restart, after the restart he stopped on the track, proffesional foul we would call it, and was pushed into the pit area for his crew to complete the wing repairs. What to make of night one? Well the big boys looked a little off the pace, Sammy will most definately be running the Alphabet Soup route to make the A, Donny may be a little closer to making it high in the B or the back of the A? Danny Dietrich may as well pack up and go home, as should Chad Kemmenah, the Posse look outclassed this year. David Gravel in a black car with little sponsorship seems to have a heap of pace, but in my 4 years of coming here i have learnt one thing, Saturday night is a different ball game. So tonight is night 2, we keep the SJ Crushing facebook page up to date as the heats are run, so for near live news thats where to look. Crabby

Hi All, Well the Crabbe and Padmore tribe have arrived into Knoxville, we went to the track today and got all the T Shirt purchasing done, then we headed over to the museum for a good look around, had to drag Dave Padmore in as he is still thinking he is a tin top man, but we will soon have him converted. Visited my treasured spot, the GP photo of his induction into the Hall of Fame, and shed my usual tear in memory of a icon of our sport, a man that I used to love watching when he made it to Claremont. We are going looking for the "special Bits" tomorrow looking for any trick bits that may give us an edge next year. So we are in the Temporary Crabbe Palace, it is 1.11am in the morning, jet lag has kicked in big time, feel like crap, Janette, Annette and Dave are all in the room, Corona's are cold, going down nice, bed seems to be something not needed now, but soon will be, it is pissing down, thunder storms, hoping the track will be nice and drivey and not wet slippery for tomorrow. Just checking if this thing still works.

Hi all, Well getting myself ready for the Knoxville yearly trip and thought I had better get my blogging skills back up and running. So lets see if this old technology stuff still works. Unofficially from me- not from the committee. We have had 2 x meetings to discuss the specs for division 2, we have come up with what we think is a good starting point and this will be tabled before the committee on sunday the 7th July for consideration. Carnarvon have 6 Limited Spec cars now running, and they are looking to add 2 more cars to this division next year, several seasons ago they had a round of Limited racing pencilled in their calander and they have asked for a spot again, still to be presented to the committee, but a good sign that our message is getting out there. Geraldton still continues to be the strong point for Limiteds, with a car count that would be envied by all sprintcar divisions, this really shows what the Geraldton Club are capable of, good solid people putting in a huge effort. Our itinerary for this year is- New york for Janette's rest and recreation, Annette and Dave Padmore are coming with us, dont worry Dave I know a good Irish Bar one block from the hotel for hiding while the ladies shop. Cold Corona and great food. Then to Knoxville for the Open Nationals, then Annette and Dave go home, Janette and I are travelling on to Pennsylvania to catch up with "The Posse", taking tours of Panchos, RUPW and the Winters factory, a bit of site seeing around Harrisburg and Gettysburg, but most importantly we will be watching "The Posse" show at 3 local tracks, usually a feast of open and 358 cars. We then head back to New York and Peter and Mariah are coming over, we do a few more days with them and then who knows, if we need to we will head back, if not I would love to go to Calistoga, want to stand next to the Garry Patterson plaque, shed a tear for my hero, see the spot that claimed the life of the great man and dream of days gone by, a bit like standing in the middle of the grassed area that used to be Claremont Speedway, it is hard to just stand there without being drawn back to the sounds and smells of a great long past era. OK back to reallity. Guys if you want a shirt or a tourist item email me, happy to grab something and post it home. Crabby.
