Hi all
Well we have travelled to Carnarvon and are on our way home, currently parked in a rest stop 17ks south of Northhampton, just had some fabulous Shark Bay Crabs for dinner with Norby, Gail and Janette under the stars with the fire roaring (Janette said to add that bit) really its fu#$%ng freezing.
Had a great run last night, won 2 heats with a second and a third.
Heats were run over 12 laps, 48 laps with heats and then a 25 lap feature.
Justin Sotiroff made his debut, he is now known as Justin Schatz after a fabulous first meeting.
Justin started from the rear allnight and managed a 3rd in one of his heats.
The Carnarvon boys have really lifted and their car speed was first rate, although Burke Holla did not turn a car out as he is still getting it ready for the North West Championships.
So to the final result.
Mick Doble was off pole with yours truly on the outside, Jim (one eye) sorry cannot remember his last name was 3rd with Steve Lyall off of 4, Schatzy was off the rear.
Norby gave me some hitec advice on how to smoke Mick off the start (apparently Gavin told Norby many moons ago) (a secret shared is not a secret anymore) it worked and the Crabbe race strategy was put into place, this was go luck I stole the car for as long as I could, this worked well until about lap 15 then the tiredness started to set in, the more I said drive smooth the more I jumped the curve until finally the front wing broke, Mick had me sized up by about lap 18 and moved past on lap 20, Mick led me home for the win, so no more trophy's on the Crabbe mantle piece..
Another great weekend and fabulous time was had by all, thanks again to the Carnarvon Speedway club.
Next year we will get more cars, so to all you limited guys out there get your cars ready, this is the best meeting of the year.

Were ready to go.
Hi all,
Well after a few late nights (not allowed to work on car during the day anymore) we have got the car in the trailer and ready to go.
We fired it up OK and then fitted up the panels and wings, after seeing Shaun Bradford's seat after his dump at the Krikke boys we fitted up the full 4 seat bolts and removed the aluminium brackets that we were using for the top half of the seat, fitted up the belts and fuelled it up ready for the trailer, now we only have to drop it off at the stripers (today) and we are ready for next season as well.
Carnarvon is looking like we will only have around 6 cars so it should be still a good meeting however another 6 cars would have been nice.
Looking forward to the upcoming Aussie Title in Darwin, we leave on the 26Th to acclimatise prior to the big event.
Well will let you all know how we go at Carnarvon on Sunday morning.

Hey Mick got your trophy.
Hi all,
Went to the trophy presentation for the Motorplex last night.
Picked up all the trophy's for the limited sprintcar club, Mick Doble took out the season and I was second with Chris Ackland third.
Left early as we are still getting back into the time zone.
Got up early and headed off to the paint shop, picked up the panels for the J&J and took them to Aladdin's Cave, painted the inside of the panels black and fitted up the seat, after 2pm I went back to the cave to fit up the dash, Jarrad fitted the motor and gauges etc, it is looking like we may even get the car into the stripers to put the rest of the stickers/sponsorship on before we head to Carnarvon, although we look like we will only get to the meeting late as I have had to schedule a work meeting for mid morning Friday.
Tomorrow we are banned from working on the car as it is mothers day and apparently it is forbidden, although for a couple of years it was OK to race at Ellenbrook on mothers day.
So Monday night it will be "burn the midnight oil" as we really need to have the car running and tuned by Tuesday evening.

NEARLY JUST OH SO CLOSE
Hi all,
After a big week work wise and being banned from working on or even mentioning Sprintcars we nearly have one ready for Carnarvon.
Somehow magically we have got it together with Panels only to fit and engine.
We are taking the first generation 14 deg headed motor to Carnarvon but changing it slightly to put more tune into it, after the first melt down we retarded the timing somewhat to keep it together, we now have some flash needle and seats and some super big jets and are looking to get maximum power out of it for the super fast Carnarvon clay way.
We have thought long and hard about set ups for this track, we probably are going to try and get the car hard over on the right rear to drive better off the turns, may even try a Chris Ackland type super wide left rear, depends how fit I am to drive the thing after 6 weeks of hard holidaying.
Also we will not be to short on tyres, after the state title dramas we have plenty left to play with.
My impressions after last years meeting was Carnarvon was potentially faster than the Warnambool track, this is a big call but I would love to see a Ryan Farrel on this track, big sweeping turns and hooky surface.

We are heading out of Mandurah bright and early on Friday morning, have to take the big gold bus but not the wife, she has to work so is flying in on Saturday morning, hard for some while the rest of us are on the road for about 12 hours.
The car will have new panels and lovely yellow paint but may miss the stars and stripes that usually adorn it as we are running out of time to get them fitted.
Well I must go, have to go to the Fast Friday wind up to collect Mick's trophy for him.

CARNARVON TIME
Hi All,
Well it's almost time to travel North to the fresh Shark Bay crabs and prawns.
Last year you may recall I won this event thanks to Rocca and Rob Watson who loaned me a car when mine broke.
The trophy has been taken down from the mantle and I drank a couple of celebratory beers to say goodbye and then it was off to the trophy shop to get Burke Holla's pen written in wins for the 2 years prior engraved and my name etched in to it and now we are cleaning it before the long trip up there.
This year it will most likely go to a new home based on our year to date but the memories of winning it and the drive home with it on the front seat as we were all packed into the truck with the Engel and gear will stick in my mind for a long time.
The most memorable thing about the whole Carnarvon trip last year was the great town, great people, great club and fantastic food (especially the Mango smoothies).
The car is nearly done with the last thing needed is panels to fit.
Well hope we see a lot of fans there it's worth the trip.

Bunbury 1/05/2010
Hi all,
Well home again and finally can blog on some racing.
We flew in from Singapore and made it to Mandurah for 4:30pm, then after dropping off the luggage we headed down to Bunbury to watch the nights racing.
There were 6 cars eventually, one was late as they got bogged in the driveway, but that's another story.
Heat one was won by Chris Ackland in quick time, the track was hooky and looked like it was going to get quicker as the night went on.
Heat 2 saw Rocka leading but with one lap to go smoke started to come from the engine bay and he slowed allowing Adam Harvey to cross the line first with Rocka holding on to second.
Heat 3 was the most interesting of the night, Gavin Davis lead with Adam Harvey right on his hammer, Michael Armstrong was holding down third and around 30m off the leaders, Michael started catching Gavin and Adam and put his car in between them in a great passing manoeuvre putting himself into second, then coming off turn 2 he tried an outside pass on Gavin only to spin up in a wet patch on the wall, this turned the car sharply left and he shot across Adam Harvey and onto the infield, after emptying the cab and readjusting his underwear he came back on to finish third from Gavin and Adam.
The feature was one of the fastest we have run this year, Chris Ackland led early only to tag the wall and deflate his front right tyre, Adam Harvey then led and I don't think he lifted at all, Gavin (I don't need new tyres) Davis was third, Gavin had to be assisted from his car at the end of the race as he was dizzy from spinning so much in the feature, interestingly though Gavin's speed would have won him every race we had conducted in Bunbury this year, but Adam was right on the set up and his car speed was nothing short of sensational, at this point I must mention I had on Adam's team tee shirt, this shirt has got to be the best Team Tee Shirt in the Sprintcar world, if you don't have one you should give the Harvey's a call and buy one, I am taking mine to Knoxville this year to show off.
The other sprintcar division running was "the formulas" one wonders how these guys are allowed to put some of these cars on the track and who is scrutineering them?
Stacy Chisolm and Grant Chisolm ran with them and had a coming together causing Stacey to have a hard stop, she was very shaken but came back at the end of the night and ran the feature although slowly, Stacey tried an outside move on her dad and rode a wheel, but each time I see her drive she looks to be getting faster and faster, maybe dad should give her the good car?
Well folks blog again soon, have to go and try to get a car together for Carnarvon, if we can't we may be looking for a lease car for the weekend.

NEARLY HOME AT LAST
Hi all,
Well after almost 5 weeks on the road we have arrived in Singapore to get back into the time zone, then we head home Saturday morning.
It has been a long time since I saw a sprintcar so I hope I remeber what they look like and how to drive one.
First job when I get home is to head down to Bunbury to say hello and watch what I hope will be a good race meeting.
We have got our panels into the local paint shop and hope we can start putting our car back together next week and hit the road for Carnarvon, however work is really getting busy so I may have to go to Tom Price and then Koolan and miss Carnarvon, apparently if I miss the meeting I get to keep the trophy for another year.
We are hoping to get a run in Tom Price if their season is running while we are working up there, you never know your luck.
Anyway hope to see you all Saturday at Bunbury for a chat and a beer.

Good luck this weekend.
Hi all from sunny (yes sunny) Germany.
Well the work part is done and it is almost time to come home.
We are hoping to be back in the seat for Carnarvon on the 15th May, but we have not got a car together yet, this could be a bit of a hurdle for us so we will see what we can do, may have to put the JEI back together.
Good luck to all this weekend at Geraldton, we hope the meeting is as successful as last year and wish we were there.

Comings and Goings
Well most of us are packed and ready to go to Gero. I've got the Kinser car and it came with strict instructions that I'm not allowed to race it. Don't forget to come and check it out.
The weather is on our side and looking good nice and cool and dry.
Andrew Pedlar is looking for a spare fuel bladder if someone has one. Contact him through mum if you can help.
Shannon Peet looks to be taking it serious this weekend and has dropped in a limited engine.
Team Ackster have been quoted as saying that they have "some tricks up there sleeve" and have been experimenting with set ups and will be hard to beat.
Gavin will be another that will be at the pointy end after his good form over the last two months.
Robbie Stevens knows that this race means a lot to us all and wants to get his name on the trophy.
Greg Harvey has had some engine problems and will have to drop in an "old 372" and just wants to race and is quite happy to race off the rear or mix with us. Adam will also be there to keep us all smiling.
Steven Lyall and Jim Andreoli are making the trip down from Carnarvon,thanks guys.
Mick Doble Might be able to sit back and relax a bit after a massive weekend of junior racing and come away with a overdue win.
All quiet from Moora. Has anyone heard from the King Boys? C'mon guys your only a few hours away.
Finally Carolyn and myself are as ready as we'll ever be and want be be near the front more than anybody. We'll just see how it all works out.

Wayne Armstrong Cup
This time we're all off to Gero for the Wayne Armstrong Cup.There was some really good close racing last meeting and we're looking forward to the same this time.This meeting means a lot to us and hopefully Carolyn or I can get our name on the trophy this year. Mum has again worked very hard to make this a special race meeting.
This year will feature a former Steve Kinser #11 Quaker State car on display kindly on loan from Sean Carran. This was the car that Steve ran in the Outlaws Downunder in 04 and is a rare opportunity to see an original Kinser car up close.
There are some really good prizes up for grabs which should ensure some good hard and hopefully clean racing.
Mum also wanted to let everyone know that her place is available for anyone to use as a base. There is plenty of shed room for working on cars a wash pad with high pressure cleaner and space if you need somewhere to camp. Also if anyone is looking for some affordable accommodation try the Grenough caravan park as they have some good cabins plenty of parking room and it's close to mums for your cars.
Don't forget to get your nominations in to Mick or Kim Doble as soon as possible.
