Well we definitely had the best turnout for the season so far with 17 limiteds nominated for the muster.

There was a massive crowd on hand and they weren't disappointed with the racing.

The first head was a very quick race and unfortunately a little too fast off the start for Sarah Zemunik as she was relegated two positions for jumping the start. So this handed the win to Todd Davis followed by Aaron Ishiguchi and then Sarah.

Heat two was a good one as well with the Gero guys showing us why they had come down with Robbie Stephens taking the win from Mick Doble and Gavin Davis.

Heat three was a bit scrappy with Todd Davis and Mick Doble both spinning on the back straight early. Race was eventually won by myself followed by Paul Peet and Aldo DePaoli. A great drive from Paul his first time in the car for a few years.

The feature was next and front 3 rows were Robbie and Sarah,myself and Todd and Mick and Gavin behind us. It was a good race with both the top and bottom of the track working well.Sarah was on the pace early and we were all trying to keep up. the minor positions were changing rapidly as everyone was having a good crack.

Unfortunately for Mick he also had a massive dump in turn one and although Mick was OK the same can't be said for his car it was a mess.

The race resumed and it was a fight between 3 with Sarah.Todd and myself running out in front of the field it was a good race and we finished in that order.

It was a great night of racing and a very good example of the show that the limiteds can put on if we get the numbers.

Fast Friday

Firstly apologies for the lack of posts just been too busy.

Well 6 limiteds turned up to race on the 16th Dec for the last fast Friday and we were treated to a really good track again.

There were also 7 360's and we ran together with them all night.

First heat seen myself and Chris Dicker off the front with the 360's one corner behind us. We finished in the order of myself,Trent Pigdon(360) and then Chris Dicker.

The second heat was won by Ryan Farrell in a 360 followed by Shane Maskell and myself in third.

Feature race front row was myself and Shane Maskell. Shane spun in turn 1 early and was collected by Jake Beard Miller and both were out for the rest of the race. We held off the field for the next 6-8 laps before I was passed again by Ryan. I set off after him only to come into contact with Bryan Hall in turn one and has a massive dump. You all have probably seen the pictures by now. Car was not damaged too bad and I had a good headache. 360's finished in the top 3 positions and the first limited home was Chris Dicker with his first win of the season.

Overall points for the night went to Chris Dicker followed by myself and Shane Maskell.

Well done Chris on your first win.

Bunbury 10 December 2012

Was a great night in Bunbury on Saturday. Norbert was farewelled in true speedway style with a four wide lap of honor.

Here's the results:

Heat 1a - Maskell, Dhu, G Davis

Heat 1b - De Paoli, Webster, Higgins

Heat 2a - G Davis, Webster, De Paulo

Heat 2b - S Crabbe, Dhu, Maskell

Heat 3a - Maskell, Dhu, Webster

Heat 3b - Higgins, Wilson, G Davis

The 20 lap feature was run without incident and won by Gav Davis from Higgins, then Maskell.

Overall Shane Maskell won the night on points along with Gav Davis who both picked a new tyre, Ian Dhu picked up a compressor and Darren Higgins (who drove superbly), walked away with a air hose reel.

A drum of meth was raffled off, this was won by Ron Wilson.

Overall we only had 10 cars, Chris Ackland was running his 360 in preparation for the 360 title this weekend and visiting American Kaley Gharst was getting some practice in the 410.

Next LSA meeting is the Muster on January 2, hope to see as many as possible there.

Well after much debate the meeting a Manjimup was held on Saturday night. We had a total of 11 cars including 4 360,s and one 320.

We were greeted with what looked like a soft and wet track. Wheel packing was interesting as the back straight was a mud pit and hard to get through. We eventually got the rest of the track packed and a line down the back straight. Hot laps were still greasy but looking fast as track was really hooked up but starting to get rough.

First round of heats were run with Todd Davis taking out our heat from Shane Maskell and Billy Stocks. In the second group Aldo Depoali had a good win from Chris Ackland and Wade Randall.

The track was getting very rough by this stage and the cars took a lot of holding onto.

Second round of heats saw everyone freeing up their cars a bit to try and make them a bit faster and easier to get through the ruts. First heat of the second round again went to Todd Davis from Billy Stocks and Wade Randall. The other heat of the second round went to Rob Adley from Chris Ackland and Tim Gardiner.

The first race of the final round of heats was won by Billy Stocks from Shane Maskell and Mike Armstrong. There was a coming together of cars during the start of this heat which left Todd Davis watching from the infield. I was leading until i tried to adjust the fuel return and stood on my dick and got passed, well that was the technical version i was given in the pits. Second race went to Chris Ackland,who again got really fast when it mattered, from Rob Adley and Aldo Depoali.

Well I jagged the invert and started of the front row in the feature next to Tim Gardiner. There were a few restarts as everyone was pushing hard and unfortunately for Rob Adley, a little too hard as he had a hard dump in turn 1. He was ok but cant say the same for his car. I lead for the first 15 laps until i was passed by Todd so now i had someone to chase. I caught and passed a rapidly tiring Todd with 5 laps to go and held on for the win. Followed by Chris Ackland, Todd Davis, Aldo, Shane Maskell & Billy Stocks.

Overall points for the night went to Chris Ackland from Mike Armstrong and Billy Stocks.

Martin is looking for nominations for Bunbury so if you can race please let him know ASAP.

Bunbury This Weekend

Well most of us will be heading to Bunbury for the first opportunity to get some season points this Saturday night.

Shane Webster will be having his first run for the season and will be keen to test out the car since the rebuild.

Crabby will be running Annettes car again with Glen's motor so hope it all goes well as he needs a good meeting to get his mojo back before the title.

I expect all the usual Bunbury crew of the Davis's,Maskie,Ackers and Aldo will all be there and i'm sure Todd will be trying to pick up where he left off last time we were there.

Good luck to everyone thats going and don't forget to let Martin know you are.

I'll be thinking of you all while i'm at work and i wil see you all on the 4th at the next Fast Friday.

Weekend Wrap Up

Fast Friday 1

Well we didn't get a great turn out but still had some good racing.

Shane Maskell was quick and looks like he's a bit faster than last time we seen him.

Chris Dicker had his first run with the Limiteds and had a good night until i ran over his right rear in the feature.

Unfortunately Crabby's well documented engine woes continued with what we think is another melt down.Much to Annette's dismay.

I had a good night running the freshened motor winning both heats and the feature which included the 360's. A good night for the new sponsor to come down.

Chris Ackland was running the 360 for the night and was his usual smooth self.

So results overall were Chris Dicker third Shane Maskell second and Mike Armstrong first.

Bunbury Night 2

Compared to the night before we had one to forget only making one heat which we won.We broke a torque ball in hotlaps and missed the first heat. We made the second heat and picked up where we left off at Kwinana only to ,what we think,was to blow the diff towards the end of the third heat. That was enough for us so we packed it away.

Todd Davis was really fast in the new car and is going to be hard to beat especially at Bunbury.

Gavin Davis had engine dramas as well and packed it away early.

Chris Dicker was looking a little bit quicker after his first run last night. He's gradually getting faster and smoother as he get more laps under his belt.

Chris Ackland was not as fast as he usually is but no doubt has plans for the big nights later in the season.

Shane Maskell was quick again as well as Ian Dhu.

Aldo Vepoali is still finding his feet but will no doubt get quicker as he gets more laps.

So overall results were Chris Ackland third Shane Maskell second and Todd Davis first.

Well hope everyone has a good run at Bunbury next meeting and i'll see you all at Kwinana next time.

The nomination form for the state title is now up on the website.

The calendar has also been updated the Oct 29th meeting in Bunbury is a night meeting not a day one as published and the World Series in Bunbury is Sat 11th Feb.

Bunbury is also holding a test and tune day on 1st Oct. The cost is $50 per car gates open at 9am and drivers meeting at 9.30. There will also be an AFL grand final BBQ.

Hi All

All drivers that are intending on going to the Friday Practise need to let Martin know ASAP as he needs to let Manjimup know how many are going. We need a minimum of 8 cars are required so get onto it.

Also for those looking for somewhere to stay in Manjimup it was reccommended to me to stay at Fonty's Pool Caravan Park as it's not very far from the track and there's plenty of room to park trucks and trailers etc.

Hope everyones car preparation is going well and look forward to seeing you all on the 14th at Kwinana.

Well we're ready we spent the last few days getting the car back together and are now just waiting for October.

Heard that Todd Davis has a nice new Eagle and associated shiney bits for this season.

Haven't seen Gavins new truck yet but it sounds like it will be very nice.

There are a few cars i have heard of that are still bare chassis so there is quite a bit of work to come for some guys.

On another note if there are guys that need their cars scrutineered in Perth or surrounds to get their log book contact me and i will come and have a look at it.

Geraldton Update

This is an update from Jason Bloxsidge in Geraldton.

Geraldton car numbers are set to explode this season with the biggest car counts since the early 90's.New and returning drivers seem to be popping up everywhere with most people ready to race.

So far counting, 12-14 cars plan on running this season. The following is a short rundown on each driver.

Mick Doble will return this season with an array of new equipment after purchasing a couple of Ex Watson's cars and will be hard to beat as always.

Robbie Stephens had a very good run last season taking out highest points and top open wheeled car. He is hard to beat when he's on his game as he showed at the Muster.

Cale Sotiroff will return for his second season in the Limiteds with an engine purchased from the US and will enjoy the extra power and car speed that comes with it.

Mick McInnes will again be running the Ex Jason Johnson car and again is very quick when he gets it all together.

Anthony Gaudio has also purchased a Ex Watsons car as well and has a new engine on the way. He is consistently getting quicker each time out.

Mark Wells is rumoured to be running the second SRT car at most of the major shows this season. After badly damaging the car at the last meeting the team rebuilt the car and won the Far West Championship in Shark Bay.

Nathan Chant is returning after having a season off and will be keen.

Anthony Rifici is returning after the big crash he had at the Wayne Armstrong Cup in '09 and also has built a new motor for this season.

Lionel Curtin is another driver returning to the Limited ranks and spent last season racing 320's but he's seen the light and decided to come back. He will have a nice newly painted car as well as a new MWP engine so will be eager to show he's still got it.

Jason Bloxsidge is another returning to the Limited Sprintcars and will also have an engine from the US.The team plans to run most of the Geraldton Club meetings as well as some of the big shows down south.

Jason Jones is another joining the Limiteds from the 320's an will have a new engine as well. He finished last season on a sour note with a rollover but will be keen to start his season.

Dean Varley will return after a 10yr lay off and is building his car and hopefully will be ready for the first meeting.

Andrew Pedlar will be back for more this year and hopefully we can talk him into running a few nights down south.

Geoff Drew ran a few nights last season and will be keen to run a few more this season with a new engine.

Karl Curtin has purchased a new car and is keen to race.

State Title Eligibility

There has been questions raised about the eligibility requirement to compete in this seasons state title.

This is an expalanation so all drivers can make sure that they meet the requirements to run.

"Drivers must have a minimum of (2) designated races in the current year's log book to qualify to compete in WA State Title"

So a "designated race meeting" is any meeting where an entry is made into the log book,so on the calender there is 5 events prior to the State Title where an entry can be made.

I believe Geraldton Club is starting a bit earlier than our calendar,so they may have a few extra meetings.I know a few people are racing in Shark Bay,Kellerberrin,Karratha,perhaps Ellenbrook,Albany etc etc.

Meetings do not need to be a designated Limited Association points meeting they could just be an entry at any club meeting in the current log book.

Current year log books will be issued when the "person" is a financial member and has had their car scrutineered by an accredited person.

Hi All

Michelle has asked if all club members can please make sure that she has your email addresses so that you can recieve club correspondance.

Martin is close to finalising this seasons calender and it just waiting to hear from a couple of tracks and then it will be released. Hopefully we'll see it on the next few weeks.

Well it seems that most of us are rebuilding and restocking for the new season and i know of one excited young man in Mandurah eagerly awaiting the arrival of his new toy from the US.

Hopefully this will be the first of a few new cars for this season.

I am collecting donations for Skip Jackson on behalf of our club.

There is a press release on the Limited Sprintcar Web site telling about Skips condition.

I urge each of our club members to help us reach our goal of $2,500.00 but would love to see this go beyond to even double.

As a sprincar fan please get behind this initiative and offer support to Skip's family by way of a donation.

For those who do not know Skip is a former Australian Sprintcar Champion and lives in Knoxville where he has raced since leaving Australia.

Carnarvon Wrap Up.

Hi all,

Shane Webster asked me to post this, for memories sake.

Carnarvon was another weekend of fun, first night was rained out and we hit the local pubs, just like the old days of playing rugby when we travelled around the Pilbara there were plenty of crew members and family out and about but the local drivers were conspicuous in there absence, we had plenty of amber fluid and food but all got out of there early enough to be fit for a 2pm double meeting race day on Sunday.

Sunday came and the track started to dry out, at 1pm we started wheel packing but it was to no avail, the mud just would not pack, the track was too wet for a grader so we waited some more, about 40 mins later 4 super sedans went out and started to try and run a line in, they succeeded and we took the sprintcars out again to help out, we rolled a 1.5 car wide line in and we were muddy but ready to go.

Not sure who won all the heats as we were bum up and head down in our camp but I can tell you Annette lost a fuel pump drive coming off of turn 4 which put her into the wall gently, the race was called after we got about 3 racing laps in which pissed me off no end, after getting several tonnes of mud on the car to get the race meeting going it appeared we were going to be given the short shift all night which is exactly what happened, there was no crane or anything else sent out to get Annette's car, it was left on the wall and we had to go and get it ourselves, thanks for coming 900km's to support our club, in the words of Sheldon from the big bang theory "that was sarcasm".

I won heat 3 and started off the back of heat 4, a big move on Robbie Stephens down the back straight on the outside had me tearing out the Jacobs ladder mounts on my chassis, my night was run, we got my power steering pump into Annette's car and my headers off and onto Glen's car being driven by Cory Gilpin and got them back out for the last few heats and the feature.

There were no other problems for the others and the track dialled in very fast.

The feature had Mick McGinnes off pole and Mat Peaker from Karatha on the outside pole.
Mick got away quickly and the positions really did not change from there, although the track was a bit one lane, the speed of the surface ensured unless someone made a big mistake it was a drag race for the brave.

2nd Mat Peaker
3rd Robbie Stephens.

In summary we had a great time, but if the sprintcars run with the North West Championship for Sedans next year then we will be giving it a miss, it is just to far to go to be messed around.

The crowd may not have seen too much passing but they witnessed some of the fastest sprintcar racing you will see.

The off season has arrived for most of the drivers and crews, but we have decided to continue racing what meetings we can.

Mick McInnis and I travelled to Karratha on the 27th and 28th of May to compete in the Nickol Bay Speedway Sprintcar muster. The car numbers were not as good as they had hoped but the racing was fast and very close in most races, some of the local limited cars are not as fast as we are used to but to talk to them at the end of the night and to see how much fun they are having it just goes to show you don’t need all the latest gear to enjoy this sport.

The Limiteds started off with 9 cars and dropped off slowly throughout the night. The first was Burke Holla with an engine problem that saw him pack up and head back to Carnarvon, one of the local drivers tagged the wall and another chased a fuel problem all night.

I am sorry I did not get all the names of the drivers or the positions they came but the results I can remember are below.

Aaron Ishiguchi was fast in the first heat leading all the way, I started off the rear and finished second.
The second heat I lead for the first 4 or 5 laps only to run over a piece of curb that had made its way onto the track and cracked the left rear wheel and blow the tyre, on the restart one of the local drivers had the left rear wheel come off and stopped the race again and with this the race was declared, this should have meant Aaron picked up his second win.

The third heat I picked up the win from Aaron.
On the second night Dusty got his fuel problem sorted out and was on the pace. The first heat went to e from Aaron and Dusty came in third.

The second heat had Dusty take off and lead the race from start to finish with me finishing in second. Aaron clipped the wall early on and ended on the infield but luckily did not have much damage.

The feature came around with its share of confusion, first the officials didn’t want to have an interval so this gave us no time to prepare our cars but after a discussion took place they agreed to give us 10 minutes to get ready. After this there was a mix up with the division that was to go out first and the 360’s had been told to get ready. Aaron and I continued to get their cars ready only to see the local limiteds being pushed out, when the pit marshals were questioned who was meant to be out they also had no idea but after contacting the stewards they announced it was the limiteds after all and we had 2 minutes to get on the track?? Unfortunately Aaron missed the time limit and had to start from the rear leaving Dusty to fill position 2 next to me for the start.

At the end I won from Dusty and Aaron.
I did not get the results in the other divisions but Mick McInnis was fast both nights and took a couple of wins and ended second in the feature race, and Shawn Bradford the only other car that travelled from down south was as always very fast getting around in the low 13 second range. Shawn took the win for the 410’s

It was a great week end of racing and we will be going back up again soon and it would be great to see some more cars make the journey up to support the Nickol Bay speedway. I would like to thank the committee and members who did everything they could to make it an enjoyable weekend and to see the smiles on the kids faces when they asked for autographs and posters etc makes it all worth the effort.

There is a race meeting in Carnarvon on the 4th and 5th of June with Steve and Annette Crabbe, Mick McInnis, Robbie Stephens, Andrew Pedlar and a few others heading up. Burke will be running a borrowed motor for the weekend as he hasn’t had time to fix his yet, there is also some very fast local drivers in Carnarvon so it should be another great weekend of limited Sprintcar racing. Unfortunately I will be working and will not be running again until the Far Western in Shark Bay.

Well it is that time of year again and the AGM is on the 28th May at 1pm at Woodlupine Community Hall, 88 Hale Road, Forrestfield.
Come along and ensure the club has heard your voice and is going in the direction the majority want it to go in.

Also on the same night is the awards presentation, this is being held at the Cannington Greyhounds, This is on Albany Highway Cannington. Go to Chasers resteraunt and ask for directions to our Function Room from there.

Hi all,

Well in the words of a 1970's song " my bags are packed I'm ready to go ".

We have packed the race car and gear, we were leaving at 1pm Thursday for a 2 day cruise to Geraldton with some stops to meet and eat with old friends along the way, then can you believe it, another bloody meeting has been called in Perth, and wait for it, at 12pm, well there goes that plan, now it will be a race to get to Durien Bay in time for the big night out with friends.

Anyway enough complaining, we are set and looking forward to running in Gero, I here they have some new dirt on the track in an attempt to stop a couple of the holes forming that are usually present each meeting.

Annette has her car packed as well and is keen.

Glen phoned tonight just to let me know he was missing us all whilst filling ships with oil for the good old USA, wishes he could win lotto and become a full time race car driver apparently.

Anyway see you in Geraldton.

Hey Mick, if you read this tell Laurie Shirley I expect to see him at the track.

Limited Sprintcar Club Season Nears an End.

Good evening all,

Well only a few more meetings and the season will come to an end, and from the Crabbe perspective it has been long and arduous, with around 20 nights of racing and 3 cars to keep on the track I am all but burned out.

From my view we have come a long way this year, my car speed and craft his improved out of site and it is good to be nearing the pointy end, 2 feature race wins for the year has also been great, minor crashes and some well documented engine woes have kept us from a couple of other wins but that's racing.
Annette has come a long way, as referred to by the whingers of the sprint car world she was called a "mobile spectator" only mid season, now she has found something and is getting on the gas hard, a great effort for her first season of driving anything, no juniors, no motorbike riding just here is a sprint car hop in.
Glen has had the 45 car on rails at every hooked up track, considering he only gets to run 6 to 7 meetings a year he has done well.

So with Geraldton and then Carnarvon to go for us we will welcome the off season and a chance to reinvigorate.
Not sure how much I have left in the tank after this year, with a busy work schedule and several new plants on the go at once it is harder to find the time to go racing any more.

We need to get more cars to Geraldton for the Easter week end, keep supporting the club, once Easter is done we are finishing off the season, Carnarvon is now an open meeting with the perpetual trophy for Limited club members but trophies for all other sprint car divisions.

It would be good to get at least 10 cars to each meeting, Geraldton and Carnarvon, so please look at the chance to race with a holiday thrown in.

Narrogin wrap up.

Hi all

Well another meeting run and won, bit disappointing with the car count, only seven cars turned out, but it has been a long season and only one week since the state title.

Narrogin turned on a nice surface and as usual the guys were quick.

Shane Maskel took out the points on the night with Annette Crabbe taking out second.

Maskie was quick all night and was hard done by in the feature, having to start half a lap behind.
Annette was quick and had the most car speed but could not work out the tricky Narrogin turns, Shane on the other hand had them sussed and put the move on everyone in the turns.
Thanks to Grant Chisolm for turning up and having a run, since bining the JEI and hopping into a Maxim he has gone ahead in leaps and bounds, sounds familiar doesn't it.
Gavin Davis had a night to forget as did I, we both had problems, mine early and Gavin's late.
Into the feature and we finally had the 77 sorted and ready, Ed and Mick put a good setup into the car and we started off pole as the lowest point scorer of the night, we did not start a heat, Annette and Grant Chisolm were off 50m and Maskie was off 100 m.

I had to get some pride back so set about my mission to run Maskie down, with 2 to go I had Maskie and Annette in my sights, Maskie slipped by Annette leaving me to wonder how I was going to get by, but they pulled the white and the race only went 10 laps.
Would have been a great race if Maskie and I went off the same spot, but after my horror night I was just glad to get a run.

Thanks to Narrogin for another great night, we just enjoy getting out there and trying to work that track out, it is fast but tricky.

Well a couple of weeks off to get prepared for the big Easter meet in Geraldton, have not been back to Geraldton since the 2008/2009 season when we had a year there to forget, Gavin tipped the car over there for me and then the next meeting I had a mishap and tipped it over again, used several spares from Gavin and Norbert and got the car going for the next night and overheated, surely this time around we will get it right.

Be nice to give Mick a run on his home track, if we beat him in a heat we know we will have finally made it.

ARMSTRONG SPRINTCAR CUP

Hey Racers

Come one come all to this year’s Wayne Armstrong Sprintcar Cup to be held at the Geraldton City Speedway.
The format and information for this year’s racing is as follows:
Engine Starts/Wheel Packing/Hot laps/Time Trials/Two rounds of heats/Poll Dash
B main (if required)/A main

Once again there are plenty of great prizes up for grabs as well as some fantastic drivers nominating and keen for the chance to take out this year’s cup.

$200 tow money is offered to all cars nominated to run in the Wayne Armstrong Sprintcar Cup, who travel more than 150 km’s.

Mum (Carole) has also invited everyone out to her place for a bbq lunch on Sunday “ byo meat and drinks “. Directions will be given to anyone that needs them at the drivers meeting or by contacting me prior.

Once again we are looking forward to have a fun, exciting night of racing and hope to see you all there.

If you haven’t booked accommodation yet look at the Greenough River Caravan Park as they have large cabins and are close to the track.

State Title wrap up.

Well folks it has been run and won and the winner did not come out of the favorite list that was on face book.

Steve Crabbe was first casualty of the night, we did the usual melt of the engine in time trials.

Todd Davis took out quick time.
The heats were fast and furious and Glen Oliver was the first casualty with a tip after contact with Ian Dhu battling for second.

The feature race was run on a track that was going slick.
Chris Ackland was off pole with Tim King out of 2.
There were several restarts before the race got underway, first stoppage was for Grant Chislom who had a small spin, Grant believing the car was not able to restart broke his belts and had to sit out the rest of the race.
Gavin Davis was the next out after 2 spins and not allowed a third start, Shane Maskel also fell to the 2 start only rule although one was just avoiding another incident.
The race started to flow and Chris Ackland was always in control with Tim King holding second and Shane Webster holding down third.
Ian Dhu had a spin and Annette Crabbe made contact with the spun car knocking out the front end.
After the restart the race pretty much ran all the way with no change.

So Chris Ackland has earnt the right to run the WA1 plate and deservedly so, he was smooth all night.
Tim King drove well all night and deserved his position as did Shane Webster.

Highlights of the night.
Chris Ackland was just smooth and did enough to just keep going forward to maximize his points without trouble, then drove a smart feature race, well done to Chris.
Shane Webster drove well and had the biggest smile of all of us.
Annette Crabbe stepped up several hundred percent to lead every one of her heats for at least 6 laps but tired and dropped into the slick at the end of each heat, she won heat 2 and was pulling away from the field until a couple of laps to go when she tired, makes me one proud Dad.
The atmosphere was great and the club put on a great event.

Lowlights.
Todd Davis hit the wall on the completion of the pole shuffle as he came off turn 4 his front end let go it was just hang on, hope there was not to much damage, Todd's mum Maxine fell while going to see if Todd was ok, hope you are ok Maxine.
Darren Higgins had a sick motor which held him back in the feature.

Come on down to Narrogin next weekend guys, let's try to keep the cars on the track for the last 3 meetings of the year, I know it is getting harder and the Title is the pinnacle but the long year is almost over, and I for one am looking forward to a couple of months to reconsider the future of our team.

Battle of Pole

The battle for pole was intense, it started with 6 vs 5. Gavin Davis won from Grant Chisholm, then it was Gavin versus Shane Webster, Shane went well but Gavin had his measure, next up Gavin was running against Tim King, Tim won easily, Tim then ran against Todd Davis who had his measure, Todd then had a run against Chris Ackland, Chris took the win ahead of Todd but as Todd was crossing the finish line he had a front end failure putting him heavily into the wall.

So the feature appears to be Chris Ackland out of 1, Gavin Davis out of 2, Tim King out of 3, Shane Webster out of 4, Grant Chisholm out of 5, not sure who is out of 6 and Annette Crabbe out of 7.

We are looking forward to a great feature, will keep you posted now this piece of shit is working.

State Title

Due to a huge technical issue with our blog a lot of information was lost... So I will try and recall to the best I can. Time trials did we'll except several issues with 71 and 77.

Straight up Crabby had issues with his engine, this meant he was unable to run at all tonight which has made him rather angry.

The heats have been very intense, I don't recall much from the first heat but off the top of my head in heat 1 Annette was driving extremely well until a restart where number 2 went flying passed here.

In heat 2 was defiantly an amazing site as she held first place the entire race and managed to fend of gav.

Heat 3 was defiantly a show of Annette's potential as she started outer pole and managed to hold first place until the last 3 laps where she made a silly mistake which saw 2 and 1 go flying passed her in third position.

Glen in heat 3 was all over the show and not thinking straight which saw him slip to last spot then drive into the wall which makes it his second crash tonight. His first was much worse where he spun out and then rolled.

Everyone is impressed with Annette's driving and we hope this continues on.

The feature has not yet started and we can't wait to see everyone put on an amazing show. I'm glad I came down tonight to see this amazing event.

I am sorry for the lack of other people's information as I am writing this for Crabby as he is pissed of all his blog entry's were not posted due to Internet issues.

Well the time for idle chat and guessing has passed and it is time to see the real WA1 stand up.

It appears from common chat and a poll that the favourite is Michael Armstrong, just wondering how many times his mum voted? but he was a clear winner in the poll.
Gavin came in second with young gun Cale Sotiroff in third.

Glen had a sleepless night last night, we took the carby off of his car to take to the dyno to run on physco, but all 3 carbys we tried returned the same results.

Well folks who are the oldest drivers in our state title?

Tony Bilman wins hands down, he is over 60 and other than being blind (as in vision) he is still one fast pedlar and keen to have a better run than his last at Kwinana, and should he not have a good run at Bunbury he will be looking for revenge when we get to Narrogin the week after.

Then I think it is me at 49 and 4 months ( that's not 50).
After that perhaps the general Grant Chisolm is in there, I reckon between the 3 of us the combined age would be more than 150 years.

That's a real worry, perhaps when Wodgy gets back next year we will run a veterans class.

Geez I wish it was Saturday already.

As I sat here tonight watching The Big Bang Theory I had a flash of thought, very dangerous I know, but I believe we may be setting a sprintcar first at our Limited Sprintcar State Title.

Could this be the first time in an Australian Sprintcar title that there will be 2 father/daughter combinations competing against each other.
The General Grant Chisolm will be racing against Stacci and I will be racing against Annette.

Just to get Grant fired up I would like to point out Annette has not beaten me yet.

State title update.

Hi all

Well we now have a pair of Kings for the title, after some pressure from the family Anthony has nominated, this now has all the fastest cars in our division nominated and ensures this will be one of the best state titles in a long time.

The Bunbury bull ring has turned on some super fast tracks recently and you can be assured that the track will be prepared to perfection for our big night.

We are still hopeful that our good motor will be ready in time, we had the spare flat out at our last run at Kwinana and would like the extra horsepower the big motor delivers, although there is talk of a mutiny if we have any engine problems during the title.
From a personal viewpoint I would dearly love a podium result, we have run 2 titles now with a best finish of fifth last year from the rear, not sure why I did not get a hard charger award, must ask about that.
25 laps of Bunbury will be a big ask for us oldies but we have had 2 x 20 lap shootouts there already this season and we made it without needing the oxy viva.

This weekend will be a big one in the cave, we will spend both days there going over all 3 cars, getting tyres ready, grooving and siping trying to get an edge over the field, every nut and bolt will be checked, on the 45 car I may loosen a couple as well, just enough to slow it a little, just joking Glen.

State Title happenings.

Hi all,

Well we edge ever closer to the state title, there is 18 confirmed and paid cars with 3 more possibles.

It will be a big night for the club as I have said before, get behind us and tell everyone to come on down to Bunbury for the 2nd of April.

At present we only have one of the King brothers nominated, Tim is ready to go and as usual will be super fast and smooth.

Anthony has had a set back with his engine so not sure if he will make it for the title.

Glen Oliver has the 45 car in at Murphy's for some repairs and we should have it running by the end of this coming weekend.

Well lots more to tell but will wait for another day.

Hi all,

Well slowly slowly the days are passing as we head into our state title.

Currently we have 18 cars nominated and things are looking good for a big night.

Do you know who the winners have been in the last ten years?
Suprisingly only one person has gone back to back since 2000, that is Wayne Armstrong.

Gavin Davis has won 3 of the last 10 titles.
Todd Davis has won one.
Adyme Harvey has won a title, I did not know that.
Russel Minchin has won one, another I did not know.
Nathan Chant won a title, apparently it was a very hotly contested event with Nathan coming out on top.
Anthony King won 2 years ago with his 320 engine in Geraldton, I remember that one as a car that lost a front wheel turned in front of me "to get to the infield" and I tipped it over, the wings on my car were less than 24 hours old from signwriter to bin.

So who will it be?
We have some quick new guys on the track this year.
We have some quick guys in their second season.
We have some quick guys in their third season.
We have some radical drivers who are hard to pass and this will show on the cautious if they cannot get past quickly in the heats.

Who will it be?

As we get closer over the next 2 weeks we will start the kiss of death process.

As an aside, where is Mick Doble and the flinstone machine? His name is not on the list yet.

Kwinana wrap up.

Hi all,

Well Kwinana last night was a good meeting in some ways and not in others.

There were some big moments for some both good and bad.

The night started with time trials, 5 hot laps with your fastest lap recorded for your time trial.
Sarah Zeminck set fast time.

There were 2 x heats with the fastest from the rear.
Heat 1 results
Sarah Zeminuk, Shane Maskell, Damien Joyce.
Heat 2 results
Damien Joyce, Shane Maskell, Steve Crabbe.

Going into the feature the high line was coming on and it was going to be a hard slog to start from behind row 1 and get past.
The line up was,
Sarah Zeminuk, Damien Joyce, Robbie Stevens, Shane Maskell, Steve Crabbe, Anthony Gaudio then the rest.
On the first start Damien Joyce got away but there was a spin and a complete restart.
On the second restart Sarah and Damien made contact with Damien hitting the turn 2 wall on the exit.
Again we reformed for the start only to have a couple of 360's come together and cause another restart, this time it was time to go straight to the top line and try to run around the front cars, we put the 77 up there and began the task of running in the top cars, after a few laps we were into lapped traffic and the lead car took to the bottom for the pass and I stayed high, this put us into the lead and we stayed there crossing the finish line 8 seconds clear of second place.

Final results
Steve Crabbe first, Sarah Zeminuk second and Shane Maskell in third.

Highlights.
Shane Maskell is getting the hang of it and getting harder and harder to get by.
Robbie Stephens is one quick pedlar around the plex.
Sarah Zeminuk was fast in time trials and the first heat.
An inspired drive by yours truly in the feature after some face slapping and harsh words from Steve Bombak, saying if you can catch them you are faster so don't sit behind them.

Lowlights
Some big crashes that claimed cars from all divisions including our 45 car.
Gavin Davis continues to have some serious engine woes.
Glen took a huge dump ruining the freshly rebuilt 45 weapon.
Dhuy after looking reasonably quick early lost a fuel pump drive.
Darren Higgins went from the elation of a near heat win last week to being a non starter at the track due to a malfunctioning brake system.

It was another good show for the club, just the usual poor sportsmanship by the same suspects puts a dampener on it.

Well bring on the title it is time to see the real fast boys back out.

Hi all,

Well 3 and a bit weeks to go and the "Number 1" will be up for grabs again.

We have had some great support from several organisations to assist us this year with the Title and its promotion.

The Bunbury Car Club has found a sponsor and given us the use of the time clock that sits on turns 3 and 4, what a great thing for the LSA.

Also the Bunbury Mail have offered a full page advert for the State Title, another great result for the LSA.

We are talking with another group about some more PR/Advertising to attempt the unthinkable, we would like to see more than 300 people at the track, and an ambitious target of 500 people is what we would really like, this would show our appreciation to the Bunbury Car Club for their faith in our division.

So to all you people who read our blog-
Help spread the word, put it on face book, put it on the speedway web sites, put it out to everyone and everything that on the 2nd of April, Bunbury Speedway is the place to be.

Krikke Boys Wrap Up.

Hi all,

Despite what has been written on the usual negative web sites even when we do well the blog takes some time to do, this is because "we are busy".

So the weekends racing wrap up.

We had 19 cars turn up, 3 were 360's and one whatever (sorry Mark).

The track was a grease pit for engine starts and yours truly embarrassed himself with a near spin in turn 2 at just above idle, stalled the car and had to wait for a restart, did my best to hide but there was not enough room in the car for that.

Hot laps were still slow with the greasy high line and 2 cars also had small skirmishes in the same spot as me, one hitting the wall and the other just spinning.

There was no real pace in the hot lap sessions.
Heat one had Michael Armstrong making contact with the pit gate after a component failure on his front end, Todd Davis won from Glen Oliver and Gavin Davis.
Heat 2 was more of the same with the Zeminuck car suffering from a hard hit to the backstraight wall.
Wade Randell won from Phil Blackman and Ian Dhu.
Heat 3 and the track was juiced up and hooky as but the water cart put some water on the highline stopping the usual fast suspects being able to use it.
Annette Crabbe was hit in the rear by Troy Craig with both being put out, Troy for the night and Annette just for the heat.
Cale Sotiroff won from Darren Higgins and Todd Davis third.
Heat 4 and the high line had come on, there was some jostling for position before the start with the inside car on pole determined to be on the hooky surface not the slick black, after a false start the heat had no mishaps and was run green to checker.
Steve Crabbe won from Mark Miller and Damien Joyce in third.

So into the feature we went.
16 cars with the top 6 inverted.
Damien Joyce was off pole, Glen Oliver was off 2, Ian Dhu was off 3, Not sure about 4, I was off 5, Not sure about the rest but Todd Davis was off 9 after pulling the 9 ball to invert the field.

Glen Oliver had the race under control for the first 13 laps including a few restarts, but on the restart after lap 13 team owner Steve Crabbe had to let Glen know that his bum should have been hot as his rear inside brake disc was molten, as Glen pulled to the infield he realised that his bum was in fact hot and he summoned the fire crew for some cold liquid relief.

Gavin Davis resumed in the lead and led for another few laps until his car spluttered and ran out of fuel, the toolbox was not going to be Glen's or his.
I was into third and ready to pounce, on the restart I realised that running the top line was getting harder and tried to move to the bottom, but each time had to go back to the top, Damien Joyce with a glint in his eye and one hand on the tool box stayed out in front and was a deserving winner in his "JEI" as he pointed out to me in the pits later, Todd Davis was in second and I came home in third.

Highlights of the night;
* Got to say it was great to get through with no motor woes and no wreckage on the 77car, we have found some pace and just need to get by the slower cars quicker.
* Glen Oliver showed why he has my State Title dark horse vote, but still has to work the traffic better, although he was running high and lapping cars 3 at a time in the feature.
* Annette Crabbe started tentatively but by the feature was gassing it up, highlight of her night was passing 3 cars on one corner.
* Cale Sotiroff ventured south and won a heat.
* Ian Dhu came out of his self imposed hiatus and was quick.
* Darren Higgins almost won his first heat but was passed on the finish line.

No real lowlights, we are all just looking forward to the state title showdown at Bunbury.

Bring on Kwinana on the 12th, hope to see a good turnout.

Krikke Boys Shootout

Hi all,

Well it is the March long weekend and that means the KBS show is about to be run.

Team SJ Crushing have all 3 cars ready to go, we have had a big week in "The Cave" putting the 45 back together, it has the best bits on it that it has had since it belonged to Pino Priolo, and Glen is looking like he has been to the Todd Davis school of race eyes.
Annette is pumped and ready to carry on with her improvement after Moora,s good drive in the feature race.
And me well I will be there in body and hopefully ready to go hard.

I believe we have up to 23 cars nominated, so if we get 20 it will be one big meeting.

Mick Doble's weekend wrap up.

Thanks to Moora speedway for another great night of racing.

It would have to be the most enjoyable night I have had this season, there was no pressure just a good bunch of people to race with and some of the best racing I have been involved in for a long time.

The King brothers as always great to race with hard and fast and always up for a bit of fun, sorry Anthony about the guide post but I need all the help I can get when driving Fred's car.
All the other drivers sounded like they enjoyed the night too and the spectators were treated to some great racing.

I didn't know what the old car would be like so we decided to just hold it flat and hang on and that seemed to work most of the time.

I would like to thank all my crew that helped me get the old girl around on the night, that's Chris, Bloods, Mick, Justin, Kim and Riley. Its just a shame the person calling the shots decided to leave the tyres on that we had run all night instead of putting the new ones on that where sitting there just looking good. (yes that was me) This cost us in the feature after some great racing with Anthony for the first half dozen laps then leading for 10 or so laps, I could feel the tyres going off and on the first restart I was a sitting duck and expected to go to the rear real fast. I got some lucky breaks with more restarts but the fast cars did show me how it is done and the next time I saw them was in the pits after it was all over.

Flintstone Racing would like to welcome a new sponsor on board in Bedrock Quarries and look forward to running the dinosaur some more this year, the little engine still pulls like a train and if we spend some time to set the car up it should be fast. Also if I put some tyres on it may help.

Hi all,

We must apologise to the Moora Speedway Club for leaving so soon after the nights racing.

We were packed up and gone within 20 mins of the flag dropping.

We are so busy at SJ Crushing yours truly had to work on the Sunday as did the entire SJ Crushing workforce, and given the number of contracts/opportunities we have at present this will go on for many more months, hence the reason the 77 car is in the shed and did not go to Moora, and in fact will only make a few more appearances this year.

On behalf of the LSA we all had a great night and thank the club for putting on a great show.

Hi all,

Well Saturday night saw the limited club running it's only meeting at Moora this season.
We had 11 cars in total, 8 limiteds, 2 320's, and an open turn up, not a bad effort for the wheat belt track and a stinking hot day.

The track was a mud bath for engine starts, but by the first heat it was a hooked up race track and the pace was on early.

It was an all in heat race, and from the outset Mick Doble in the Fred Flinstone special was on a mission, he was fast from the green flag but had trouble holding off the modern day machines.
We had a couple of cars join the club during the night which was fantastic and it looks like next season we will grow in numbers again.

There was no real incidents all night, even though the racing was fast and furious, there was no quarter given and every pass was earned.

The feature race was the best race for passing we have seen this season, Mick (Fred Flinstone) Doble and Tim King swapped the lead several times each lap for the first 4 or 5 laps, when the dust had settled the Flinstone mobile had smoked the tyre and had to hold on just to finish, the final results being;
Tim King first
Mick McGuiness second
Anthony King third

Points for the night were;
Anthony King first.

Highlights for the night were;
Fred Flinstone, he was really on the pace all night and went home unbent, you have gotta be happy with that. Small motor, 1990's chassis and some of the oldest bits I have seen since the super mod days.
Tim and Anthony King look like they are ready for another State Title shootout.
Aaron Isuguchi was quick but still has to find the way around cars.
Mick McGuiness was fast in the feature.
Damien Joyce was getting the handle on it and he was so fast sometimes you were sure there were 2 of him out there.

Lowlights;
Gavin had some engine issues and missed every race, he already has his 358 in ready for Bunbury even after driving home and not arriving until midday Sunday, not a bad effort considering I am writing this Sunday evening.

Hi all,

Well long time no blog so I thought I had better get started again.

So first up lets get into whats happening and what you need to do if you are racing with us over the next month or so.

Moora;
This weekend we are off to Moora with around 14 cars expected to run.
Team SJ Crushing are fielding only one car this weekend, Annette will run the 12 to continue her apprenticeship into the sport, or as the nice folk on whinge.com call her "the mobile spectator".

Krikke Boys Shootout;
We are running Sunday 6th March with 2 heats of 8 to 10 laps and a 20 lap feature, and for those who are not sure of the calender this is the last Bunbury hit out before the state title.
Currently there are 21 cars nominated to run, this will be a good weekend of racing.

Kwinana;
Martin has pulled off a minor coup here with us having a Saturday night show, Saturday 12th March, also thanks must go to Gavin Migro for programming us, to get the most out of this we need a good car count and it is another good meeting to run for a final shakedown into our State Title.
Remember- To run at Kwinana you must-must-must nominate on line.
Entries close on Wednesday 02nd March, please get your nominations in as they do not mess around and will not accept late nominations.

So for the general chat.
Team SJ Crushing have been busy in the cave, we are into some serious motor work, replacing rocker gear on the 7 cylinder from Bunbury, amazing how a push rod worn through a rocker arm can slow you down, replacing the crap valve springs on the first 14 deg motor with some serious ones, fitting the Naylor 23 deg test rocket into Glen's car to see if it is the motor he wants to run for the state title, and getting the pile of junk that sits on his shed floor to look like a race car again.
Glen's chassis has been to Doctor Cox then on to Professor Murphy for some serious reconstruction, we will put it back together next week with the latest and greatest second hand bits the cave can provide, although they may even be third hand by now.

Team SJ Crushing also welcome another new sponsor to our sport, 888 Crushing and Screening Equipment, thanks to Henry and Colum.

Just to spark a bit of rivalry between the teams here is an interesting statistic for you.
Car 45 has not been beaten at Kwinana this year, only when he passed to closely and the driver being passed had a moment and tore out the front end, in heat 2, and then on the same night in the feature when 45 was passing the last 320 for the outright lead and his steering broke putting him into the wall.
So the Crabbe kiss of death worked on Mick last year and now I am going to put the kiss of death onto Glen.

He is my Dark Horse going into the state title.

Hey Dhu meister, we hope to see you at Bunbury for the KBS, and then at the state title.

Another little snippet of team talk;
Cale Sotiroff is coming down for the KBS and the state title, good to see him moving out from Gero for a run.
Team Bilman are looking for a driver, Tony has a minor eye problem he is hoping to get fixed but in the mean time wants to see a "Young Gun" drive the car, look out for the mystery man in team Bilman colours.

Geraldton Information.

Hi all,

From Jason Bloxidge regarding the upcoming Geraldton meeting.

After last meetings great turnout of 9 sprintcars at a local meeting, which saw plenty of action in every heat.

This weekend local competitors will once again hit the clay, many fine tuning their cars for the upcoming state titles in Bunbury and Morowa.

Leading the nominations is Robbie Stephens who won the previous meetings feature and has been in great form this season.

Mick Doble has had a huge fortnight building a new car after a massive crash in the first heat last meeting which saw the 40 car end for end in turn two. Mick has put back together the trusty schnee for this weekend as the points battle for club championship rages.

Cale Sotiroff has had a bad couple of meetings with major engine problems on both nights. Hopefully his new USA bullet will arrive in time. Currently sitting third in the club points he will be hoping for a major turnaround of luck.

Other cars include Lionel Curtin, Andrew Pedlar, Anthony Gaudio and Jason Jones. Two new cars fronted last meeting, with Mick Mcinnes driving the ex Jason Johnson Maxim he purchase last year at the krikke boys. This was Micks first drive at Geraldton in over ten years and from the features performance will be quickly on the pace.

The other new car was the Jason Bloxsidge maxim sprintcar, who has returned after 3 seasons off. While having fuel issue which resulted in his withdrawal after heat one, the car is all sorted now and will be featuring a bright new paint job.

With several more cars returning to the track soon including Nathan Chant and Geoff Drew, the magical double figuires barrier will be broken.

Also racing on the night will be Supermods, Productions, Street Stock, Juniors and Quarter Midgets.

So get your backside trackside at Geraldton Speedway on 19th February 2011 to see country sprintcar racing at its best!

Bunbury World Series wrap up.

Hi all,

Well another good meeting was had by the LSA at Bunbury on Saturday night.

We were supporting the WSS show and the Club put on a good showing with the only downside being a lower than usual car count, we had 14 cars turn up including 1 x 320 and one 360.

The heats had some great racing with passing moves going on all around the track keeping the crowds well entertained.

The feature had the field fully inverted to make sure it was going to be an exiting race.

Annette Crabbe was off the front row with Troy Craig outside.

By the start of the feature the track had a Parramata size cushion in turns 3 and 4 and 1 and 2 were slick to half track.
The race got underway and the faster cars in Tim King/Todd Davis/Chris Ackland ploughed through the field making their way to the front, tyre wear was an issue and those not conserving them soon found the going tough, even I was having the tyres buzzing up on my 6 1/2 cylinder engine.
There were a few spinners during the feature, the first being Annette Crabbe who passed a couple of cars for the lead and was looking fast until she got too excited and turned it around in the middle of 3 and 4.
Shane Maskel looped it a couple of times stopping the field and was given a lucky break with a 3rd start?
Brett Barndon again brought the field to a stop a few laps later when he went over the turn 3/4 cushion and got into the wall in a big way.
The last 4 laps of the feature took a while as another spin was happening in turns 3/4 had myself looking to go down low to get past a few of the front runners only to make contact with Tim King which saw me taking a gentle tumble onto the top wing.
The race then ran out the last 3 laps with no more stoppages.

Allan Chapman took the win ahead of Chris Ackland with the much improved Shane Webster.

Highlights:
Shane Webster had the steely glint of a man that wanted to go quicker and really had the car performing in the feature.
Darren Higgins again improved and is starting to get some car speed, just needs more tyres, as he was seen running around the pits looking for more rubber during the night.
Annette Crabbe led a heat and the feature for a couple of laops each and really worked out how hard to push the accelerator, pity she is losing all that engine power when we refit her little engine for Moora.

Mr Smooth (Aka Chris Ackland) was again in a class of his own, although we are starting to narrow the gap.
Todd Davis drove well and kept his brother Gavin on the edge of his seat, Gavin was in the stands watching as he had been to a wedding, Gavin cringed every time Todd hit the cushion in turns 3/4 but Todd had more ability than Gavin gave him credit for.

Lowlights
Brett Barndon did a fair bit of damage with a hard hit into the wall.
In Gavin Davis's eyes the loss of points that has Annette Crabbe leading the club championship and looking like she really wants those tools Gavin has in his shed, a real Hair and Tortoise race this one.

Well for the committee we have our monthly meeting at Woodlupine this Tuesday night, we need all the committee in person as we are also having a Special Meeting as well.

Bunbury World Series:

Hi all,

Well it is that time of year again when we head down to Bunbury to support the big meetings.

After the Margaret River meeting there are a few of us Limited Drivers looking for a better show.

After running flat out in the heats we had a minor mishap at the start of the feature, this has been sorted and we are ready to see how we go at Bunbury given the track has been so fast this year.

Make sure all you nominated drivers and trucks get down early on Saturday, it looks like pit space will be at a premium, there are around 35 opens, 30 formula 500 and our 19 nominations, so the pits will be bursting.

Even if you are not going to be racing come on down and supprot the club and the Bunbury Car Club/Krikke promotions group.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Margaret River- Another great success for the Limited Club.

Hi all,

Well the Limiteds travelled to Margaret River and put on another great show.
The 320's had 4 cars and there was 1 360.
We really appreciate the help we get from these guys to promote the sport of Sprintcar Racing by ensuring we get larger fields and put on a first rate show, so a big thanks to all you guys that came along, we hope you had a great time.

There was no major damage in any of the heats, we had a couple tag the wall but with no major components being damaged.

The track had a couple of dry spots and did rut up a bit by heat 2, but overall it really was a great track and the Margaret River club should be proud of their efforts to get the track so racy.

For the first time in my racing career we had a 4 wide salute, I was out of position 3 and keen to get the feature underway, but during the salute a small excursion into a puddle caused some drama with the 77 machine and into the infield we went to watch the feature.

The feature was underway and Michael Armstrong got the jump, however Ben Ellement set about going to the front and putting on a driving clinic, I would doubt even an open would have been quicker around the track.
Chris Ackland also was quick and Todd Davis came through the field with a great drive after being all adrift in the heats.
Gavin Davis also was quick in the feature until a small hose failure brought his night to the end.

The night had no low lights, it was just a great meeting with everyone performing well.
Gibbo had a night with a few engine dramas and we hope his luck picks up as he heads into the business end of the 320 season, time he had that number 1 stickered on his tail tank if you ask me, I was looking forward to actually having a good run with him, he has shown a clean pair of heels to me a few times and I was looking for some payback.

Highlights
Great track and a club that really appreciated the show we put on.
Darren Higgins took some advice before the feature and came out looking like a winner, just unlucky his front end felt unstable and he pulled in 3/4 of the way through.
Shane Webster had some good pace but lacked enough unleaded to finish the race.
The team 88 turned up with some great posters and hats and looked fabulous manning the bench in the local pub.
Martin Laughton, Lillian and Peter Morton organized another great meeting and worked tirelessly to ensure it was a success.

The only bad part of the night was the verbal crap after racing was complete, by a couple of members who think they can abuse officials, kind of makes the hard work of these officials not worth it, when they are gone so will our club be, think about that for a while before next meeting.

So folks it's off to Bunbury for World Series, we are racing on the Saturday night, heats will be split in 2 and we are guaranteed a 20 lap feature, so come on down and support our club the Bunbury car club, and the Krikke Boys promotion team.

Bad luck to Mick Doble who had a big dump at Geraldton, word is he has a new car almost ready.
By the way Mick, your parts are here this weekend, give me a call and let me know how you want them delivered.

Hi all,

Well after 2 and a half days on the road from Warrnambool to Mandurah we are home.

Good to see we have another large field of cars for Margaret River on Saturday night.
I am keen to see how we go there after Dhuy told me it was a good track a couple of years ago.

Gavin has put his "Renter" motor in to see how it goes before he sells it, this is one of his old motors modified and fresh, no doubt it will be a goer the same as all his motors.

Todd is coming down as well as is Chris Ackland, so you know it is going to be tough close racing, looking forward to rubbing shoulders again after a small absence while we were on the road.

We had a great time running speedweek, the classic and the Aussie title, with some great results for the team.
I always thought life on the road with a race team would be great, it isn't, it is late hours and hard work, we only holidayed after speedweek as we had Ed, Norby and Gail with us so Jarrad, Kris, Greg Fischer and Corey had all the work to do after speedweek.

If you look on Sprintcarworld you will see some of the articles about Kris's results.

Well just glad to be back and ready stomp the throttle.

Hi all,

Well it was great to see the club pull off another great meeting in Geraldton.

We have not put on a bad show in terms of numbers or close racing yet this year.
Well done to all our club car owners and drivers, it makes me proud to be a part of this forward moving club.

Really though the efforts of Mick and Kim Doble and the other Geraldton Speedway committee should be commended, how this club keeps putting on such great shows is beyond me.
Also I personally would like to thank Mick Doble for the work he does up there, and for offering to help Annette while I was away and she was in Geraldton.

Most of you probably know I am in Warnambool and have been over this way for most of this year, we are nearly done and will be home mid next week.

I am keen and ready to go in the Armstrong Cup in Geraldton later this year, the 2day meeting will see me and Annette up there to reclaim some respect after Robbie Stephens kicked our butts at the muster.

Guys lets get those nominations in for Margeret River on the 5th of February, this is going to be another of those meetings where we will put our division forward as a serious alternative to the 360's or opens, the more cars we get the greater the chance we will be invited back next year, these clubs are paying tow money which is something we see very little of.

Well that's it from me, looking forward to resuming my racing in February after my drive last Bunbury meeting.

Doin it for the Old Boy.

Geraldton was a great meeting last night with about 20 drivers turning up for the meeting.

Congratulations to Gavin Davis who won the Old Boy race for the second year in a row. He was proudly showing off his trophies last night and nice big $5000 check in the window of his room at the hotel for all of us to see.

The track was slippery in hot laps with everyones tyres just spinning, however some fast times appeared.

Gavin Davis: 13.080
Jodi Waldron: 13.118
Robbie Stephens: 13.345

Round 1
The first round of heats was when the ruts started to begin.
Heat 1 was taken out by 360 driver Jodi Waldron, followed across the line but Gavin Davis and Mick Doble. Jodi Waldron pulled the fastest time in 13.522 seconds.
Heat 2 saw Andrew Pedler cross the line first follewed by Grant Chisolm and Brett Barndon.
Heat 3 went to Chris Ackland, then Robbie Stephens and Adyme Harvey.

Round 2
Heat 1 saw Gavin take the win over Jodi Waldron and Mick Doble.
Heat 2 Brett Barndon cross the line first followed by Andrew Pedlar and Grant Chisholm.
Heat 3 was won by Adyme Harvey followed by Chris Ackland and Justin Bell.

The track was graded before Round 3 due to quite a few bad ruts. The track that was left was first class. I had more fun in heat 3 then any other after we let the right rear tyre pressure down to 9.

Round 3
Heat 1 went to Ben Ellement driving Rocca Zemunicks car followed by Gavin then Mick.
Heat 2 Stacci Chisholm who took out her frist Limited Sprintcar heat win! Followed by Brett Barndom and Grant Chisholm.
Heat 3 was won by Justin Bell followed by Adyme Harvey and Chris Ackland.

The heats were very uneventful except for Round 2 when Stacci got caught up with Anthony Gaudio.

The feature started with Gavin on the poll and there were no doubts he wouldn't win. The first corner saw Mick Doble out and yours truely after 2 cars spun out. I tried going up high to miss Shane who just missed the 33 car (correct me if I'm wrong) but unfortunately ended up hitting Maskells left rear damaging my steering rod and radius rod, but it could of been much worse. The restart went well and it wasn't until about 12 laps to go Chris Ackland had a big tumble after challenging Adyme Harvey for second. It was devastating as Ackland had the momentum up and going, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be. With 5 laps to go Robbie Stephens and Justin Bell had a coming together which saw Bell end up on his side, both were out. Gavin took the win with Adyme Harvey second and Ben Ellement third.

It was a great night, racing with some great people. Doin' it for the Old Boy showed us what racing was all about, Gavin Davis was constantly giving us tips with set up for the ruts, Chris Ackland and his crew were also very handy in helping myself and Mick find a good set up. Team Bam Bam were friendly and helpful in trying to get my car on the trailer, when eventually the radius rod snapped and they lended us one to get it home. Everyones help last night was very appreciated and this is what makes me enjoy racing. The fact that we have a great wide group out there, young to old, males to females, from all over the state and country.

Just a reminder, if you want tyres let myself or Dad know. For those who haven't yet told Martin if they are going to Margret River or World Series night 2 in Bunbury then please do. If you can't get a hold of him due to Martin being over east let Lillian know.

Good evening everyone!

Well what a stressful day I have had! It started off starting work very early today to take the truck to the Racecar Cave to get the #12 car and everything coming with, we then dropped it off at West Coast Wheels to get tyres done, service and make some sort of exhaust to last us the weekend, which we noticed we hadn't done at 7 this morning. We then bolted in some eyelets to tie the car down for now and put in the tool box and set up the spare tyre rack! It was a very busy day and without Tony or Haynesy this week I would not be sitting in our hotel in Geraldton right now! Mick, Chris and myself left at 2.30 and arrived in Gero at 9.

I have my race face on and I'm ready to go now, after Bunbury last week I have been bitten by that race bug that so many talk about.

I hear the Team Bam Bam will be leaving in the morning nice and early around 6, after his last meeting in Bunbury, I am sure Shane will be hungry for some more wins!

The Davis team were leaving this afternoon after work around 4:30, after doing a motor last meeting and having not a good run at the Motorplex, he looks hungry to get back on top.

I haven't heard much else but I hear Ackland will be making the trip up, and also rumoured Adyme Harvey to travel aswell.

I am looking to running with some fresh blood! We have locals like young gun Cale Sotoriff nominated, didn't see Mick or Mark Doble on the list, but I hope to see them there! We also have a few 320's joining us this weekend. I hope we can put on a great show up here as we have everywhere else.

Bunbury 8th January 2011

Hi all,

Well we travelled to Bunbury Saturday night for some fast and furious action and we delivered that and more.

Again the club drivers and invited drivers put on a great display for the crowd, the Bunbury Car Club provided a track that was well prepared and maintained throughout the night, a faster surface you could not have asked for.

There were no major accidents in the limited division although a couple of near misses were spotted, yours truly mounted Shane Maskell at the start of the feature and lost 5 places, Michael Armstrong hit the wall whilst leading the feature race and that was about it.
In the invited 360 division the 4 Blackman Fabrication cars had a night that kept the mechanics busy, 3 front ends and 1 rear end kept Ewen Fellows busy on the spanners all night, he was glad when the last race was done so he could rest.

The 360's had their own heats and a feature with the final placings being
1st Tim Gardner
2nd Jodi Waldron
3rd Wade Randell

The limiteds had an eventful feature race, Michael Armstrong was fast and smooth until he hit the wall, this handed the lead to the ever reliable Chris Ackland who held on until the checkered flag, second was Todd Davis who had the Martin Engineering sponsored car on the floor, third was myself, who after a mishap at the start dropped back to seventh but clawed my way back to 3rd, the feature ran 20 laps green to checker at a fast pace.

Some of the highlights of the night were;
Bam Bam Maskel had his first heat win, and not through anyones misfortune, he had that car flying.
Shane Webster has got his little motor on the boil and was also fast.
Darren Higgins completed every lap in everyone of his heats, he had a smile from ear to ear but was just a little worn out from the feature race.
Crabbe junior has realized that to go fast you have to push the loud pedal, she was on the gas more than ever before.
Crabbe Senior made it through the night without a meltdown, that makes it 2 meetings in a row.

Limited results for the night were;
1st Chris Ackland
2nd Todd Davis
3rd Steve Crabbe

We are racing next at Geraldton on the 22nd of January and it would be great to get a few more cars there, or just a great number of spectators, so common and witness the Limiteds doing there stuff.

I think that most members and supporters of the limited club like to follow what its members are up to and it is good to hear what is happening at other events around the country and how the local drivers are going against the big names over east.

It may be a limited site but don't we all follow other divisions of sprintcars??

Yes I have been slack in sending info in from Gero but with building a new canteen up here things have been a bit hectic over the last few months.

Sprintcar Muster.

Hi all

The Sprintcar Muster is all over and a good night was had by all.

We had 16 cars turn up which was second in numbers to the 410's, a great effort and showing how our club is one of the healthiest Sprintcar Clubs in WA.

As usual we were made to run all 16 cars in the heat, not sure why we get such a raw deal given the level of numbers we provide and more than that the tight entertaining racing our members provide, however I believe when approached the Motorplex stated they had 128 entries and would not have the time to run all the events.
I feel there are divisions that provide less entertainment, have less cars and they get split heats etc.

Heat 1 was slow on a greasy track and at the start we had a couple of cars come together which resulted in a complete restart, 3 of the field were out.
Mick Doble was judged as the prime cause of the stoppage and we were all bemused at that call, Mick had to check up to miss a near spinning car which caused the next car to loop, bit unfair, much like another decision at Fast Friday last run that saw Sarah Zemunick to be penalised.
Robbie Stephens was a run away winner.
Heat 2 saw the track starting to come on and again Robbie Stephens was a run away winner.

The Feature was over 15 laps with the fastest from the front, which is the way it should be in the big meets, we were all given our starting positions in person and we lined up for the start, again there are those that feel they should start where they want and we did 2 laps under yellows while it was sorted, I must admit it pisses me off that we have to stuff around because someone does not like where they are, my view is pull the reds and fork them off the track if they cannot comply with the rules of the meet, enough about that though.

The feature was a green to checker and there were cars passing and lapping cars everywhere, we had 6 320's in with us and it was close fast racing.

The final results were,
1st Robbie Stephens 2nd Mick Doble 3rd Justin Bell.

A great meeting and looking forward to Bunbury next week.

Speedweek wrap up.

Hi all

Well speedweek is done and we are home again.

The last night of speedweek was at Warnambool and the racing was great, Warnambool Premier Speedway is the Holy Grail of Australian Sprintcar Racing in my eyes, the Classic each year is the premium event on the Australian calendar with only the Aussie title being more prestigious to win.

Again there were 6 West Aussie cars or teams.
Monte Motorsports, Milling Motorsports, Miller Motorsports, Kendrick Racing, David Priolo and Kris Coyle for Fisher Racing.

The top 4 teams are all good with consistent cars and each had a car in the A main with only Jason Kendrick not making it out of the B.
David Priolo up till this point had had a week he would like to forget but at Warnambool he was on the gas and made it into the A easily.

Kris again time trialled poorly but made the inversion, he ran 4th in the first heat and second in the second heat after Kerry Madsen slid him going into turn 3 on the last lap.

After the second heat Kris admitted he had never run so close to the wall in his racing life, and in fact he had the rear wheel touch it 3 times during the heat, it was a very Ryan Farrel like drive.

The fast boys took out the night with Jason Johnson winning and Craig Dollansky second.

We are really looking forward to the classic and the Aussie title over there later this month, it will be racing well worth seeing.

Hi all,

Tonight I received some feedback on the blog.

As I have previously said we have 350 individual people read the blog.
We have received 3 complaints over the time we have been writing the blog and 2 of those were from the same person.

We have asked on many occasions for people to send in info we can put on the site but receive very little, so to keep the interest in the site we put whatever info we can on the site.

So folks here is your chance to have a say.
Send in and let me know if you only want limited sprint car information on the blog.

I will share with you the comments received tonight with symbols replacing some of the letters in the expletives used.

Speedweek- Avalon

Hi all,

Well another nights racing has been run and again we had mixed fortunes.

We time trialled badly although ahead of a couple of other West Aussies.
43 was our position so we missed the invert and Kris started from the back of the field.

In both heats we made it forward and then went into the C Main.

We made a good start but again got caught up in someone elses wreck, we restarted and managed to get up into position 5 quickly but a spinning car brought out the yellows and again the C was declared so our night was over.

We now head to Warnambool for the start of four meetings here including the Aussie title.

Will let you know how we go.

Mt Gambier not a happy hunting ground for us.

Hi all,

Well we arrived in Mt Gambier last night ready to keep up our assault on Speedweek.

Kris again had trouble in hot laps, seems strange to me they put 12 cars out on these small tracks, it is ok for the guys who have raced here before but as a new team/driver it is hard to come to grips with a track when you cannot get in any fast laps due to traffic, but that's the way it goes.
Kris timed in at 29, again not good but ok considering there were 50 cars to run with.
Heat 1 had Kris out of 3 but the car was not set up right and we drifted out to end the heat last.
Heat 6 had Kris out of 4 and he went high going into turn 1, but a car spun in front of him and Kris checked the car up to avoid damaging the car, Steven Lines was not so lucky and hit Kris hard in the side, this resulted in some chassis damage and our night was done.
We spent the day fixing the car and are just about ready to head for Avalon, it will be good to get the car onto a bigger track again.

The team is pumped and really looking forward to our last 2 meetings of speed week.

Really looking forward to "The Muster" on the 2nd, this speedweek trip just gets the racing juices going.

Will keep you all updated over the next 3 days of our progress but looking forward to catching up at the muster.

Speed week night 2- Murray Bridge.

Well night 2 has come and gone and the team achieved more tonight than we had even dreamed of for the whole trip.

Time trials were average with Kris out in the second last group, the track had gone off and we could only get 33 out of 46, still not bad after 5 hot laps with no clear track.

Heat one had Kris out of 2 and he drove away to a convincing win.
Heat 5 had Kris off pole and he had to settle for second off the start but worked his way into the lead on lap 4 and again he drove away, not bad considering the quality of the field he was up against, 5 contracted drivers were in his heats, there was not a slow car to be seen.

The heat wins put Kris off pole for the B main, again he had to settle for second off the start but early on he drove past Luke Dillion and pulled out a massive lead, Matt Egel soon had the outside line working and closed up with a few laps to go, but Kris again pulled away to win.

So we made an A main, unbelievable really, we have made both the shows, just doing that has been great, I am starting to think the 25 points we were penalized from Adelaide are going to come back and haunt us as we would be fairly high in the speed week points if we still had those, but we are not complaining, rules are rules and we should have been there on time.

So to the A main Kris went, starting out of 15 he got up to 8th and held out there for a while, but from the Crabbe perspective it looked like he tired after about 25 laps and we went back 4 spots to finish a creditable 12th, not bad for our second night out as a team and second night in the car.

I was talking to Kris yesterday about a name, you cannot be the Young Gun when you are older, Danny Reidy is "The Rockstar" the amount of time Kris has had the camera stuck in his face he will soon be known as "The Movie Star".

Well enough dribble for now, cars to clean.

Mt Gambier tonight, here we come.

Speed week night one-Adelaide.

Hi all

Well we arrived in good old SA and headed from the Airport to the track.

The pits were full and there were 6 of us West Aussies ready to race, well 5 actually as our transporter was stuck behind a motor vehicle accident and arrived late.

The new car was rolled out and looked a treat, hot laps went well and we time trialled 24 out of 45, not bad considering Kris had only done 6 laps in the car with an unfamiliar chassis.

Heat 4 was our first heat and Kris was up against it with several contracted drivers and Kerry Madsen also in the heat, Kris started out of 8 and finished in 5th, a good smooth drive.
Heat 7 was our next heat and we started out of 6, Kris went around the outside and was leading by the end of the first lap, he drove away from the field and only slowed after lapping half the field, a great drive.
We qualified for position 5 out of the B main, but we were penalized 25 points for being late to scrutineering, this then put us 7th out of the C, the C was a farce with less than 3 racing laps before being declared, we were in 5th.

So night one of speed week is done, we are now off to Murray Bridge.

Racer Update.

Kim Collins-9

Well it has been some time since we have seen Kim on the track but after a late night call tonight from Kim he tells me he is ready to go.

The shed doors have been thrown open and the car is ready to roll out and head on down for Fast Friday on the 17th December.
From memory I last saw Kim in Bunbury 2 seasons ago, he was having fuel problems and wiped the bearings with methanol contaminated oil.

Kim enlisted the services of Rocka Zeminuk to get his motor rebuilt and is looking forward to a shakedown at Fast Friday before tackling the Muster on the 2nd January.

Great to see Kim back, he is a good peddler who always races hard.

Well another week end over and more time spent in the cave.

My car is sitting awaiting the next engine to go in.
Have been thinking of running the very low budget 23deg head motor that was built by Naylor Race Engines as a spec motor to try for our division, this is most likely what we will do.
Went down to the Davis workshop Saturday and dropped off a motor to put a new rotating assembly in, this is the original motor I had put in my JEI, this will be it's third reincarnation from Sean Bradford's 360 to a top limited engine.
Monday we start putting a tow vehicle together for Annette, she has decided she will run all the meetings she can this year, we are away for a few during speed week and the Aussie title, so Annette needs her own way of getting to and from the race meetings.
Also it takes about 2 hours to pack the truck and trailer and then rehitch it after each meeting, and that's valuable socializing time that is wasted.

Sounds like Pithara was a great meeting, not often I miss a meeting but could not get there, well done to Jason Kendrick, he was looking good at the state title and has really stepped up this season.
Also good to see Kris Coyle have a change of luck, he was quick all night apparently, but had a moment late in the feature whilst dueling with the top three.

Racer update;
The King brothers are about to make a long awaited return to racing at the next Fast Friday.
Both have new cars to run and want to get them ready for the action in the New Year, although Anthony has said he cannot race the Muster as he has crew commitments with the Brady's.
No doubt they will both come out and be as quick as, which from my view point is a good thing, we are getting some seriously quick people racing and the pace has been red hot this season.

Manjimup almost wrap up.

Hi all,

Well I have had several calls asking why no info has been posted from Manjimup.
The reason is because I cannot honestly remember that much about it.
I know I won the first heat from Todd, and I think Gavin won all his heats and the feature with Todd second in the feature.
The Blackman 360's were there and I had to scrutineer the cars, they are first rate and a credit to Phil and the guys that own them, they put up a great effort and pushed us hard.
Old Phil himself still has the killer instinct, he was quick as around Manjimup and ran second overall in the feature.
The two Davis boys were quick all night, they know the track and had good setups although Todd was a bit off in the feature after being baulked by Annette it took him a few laps to get back into the groove.

Highlights
Shane "Bam Bam" Maskel was fast and is getting the hang of this quickly.
The other Shane, casual Webster was also getting mighty quick and started picking off some of the top boys.
Darren Higgins had a great run in the third heat until his motor let go, but it was good to see him really standing on it and showing he can drive.

Lowlights
My motor had a minor melt on cylinder 5.
Darren Higgins motor dropped 2 rods.

Next meeting is Fast Friday on the 17th December, it would be great to see some of the out of town boys there, come on Geraldton, let's see a couple of you there.

Manjimup time almost here.

Hi all

Well it has been a big fortnight since we last raced, I have not been so busy in all my life.

Anyway to the happenings inside the Crabbe shed.
We have Annette's car ready to go, completed late this afternoon after we headed down to the cave straight after work.
My car is sitting on stands with about 3 hours work before it is ready to go.
We have got some new wings to put together for spares as we somehow managed to sell our spare front wing by mistake with the JEI.
The wings will all be off to the powder coater later this week and finally there should be a spare in the Crabbe trailer.

Our container full of gear from the USA will be here by 30th November so when we get the final import charges I will advertise the tyres we have purchased and the cost, also the j and j for Jim in Carnarvon is in the container and the 358 we have for sale, we have 4 serious buyers for this engine all waiting for it to arrive so they can come check it out.
Annette has a new motor in there, it is one of the small budget motors Jimmy Naylor is trying to sell into our division, looking forward to see how it goes.

Manjimup is on this weekend, I am looking forward to seeing this track, they tell me it is frighteningly fast, some of the 410's have been clocked at above 200kms an hour down the straight, now that is quick.
We have about 14 cars going, should be a cracker of a meeting.

THE VOICE OF ANOTHER BLOGGER

Hi All,

Out in the country you quite often miss out on the news and results of the club, so we always appreciate the effort that goes into the service Crabby provides. To break up the monotony that can be had by listening to the same voice over and over we thought on occasion we would keep the club up to date on the results at our local track Narrogin.

It may now be a few weeks since the LSA hostiles invaded our patch of dirt, but the response and feedback we are still getting back from the public is impressive. To say the display of racing was nothing short of awesome is an understatement. We as locals thoroughly enjoyed the competiion and revelled in fact that we had a full field of cars to keep us on our game. Thank you to all those who put in an effort to travel to our club and make it such a good meet.

We have only had one meeting since then on Saturday 20th. Unfortunately only 2 cars showed up, one of which we welcome back after a 2 year hiatus. Young Mr Bell certainly proved though that he still knows how to pedal a car. For us it became a test and tune day, with laps proving invaluable as we nutted out some new setups.

Our next meeting is the Christmas Cup meeting on the 18th of December, all are welcome.

Quick note before I go on the quality of racing amongst the Limiteds. I had the pleasure of attending Geraldton Speedway on the13th of this month, as I was up there for the harvest. I must say that on the night there were only 4 cars but they put on some of the best racing I have seen in a long time. Nows thats not a go at the other division that was racing at the time, but you 4 are a credit to the LSA, to put on a show that good with in tight racing and passing was an enjoyable spectacle, Well Done.

Good morning all,

We headed to Bunbury last night to watch the 410's State title.

It was a good meeting with a small rain interruption before the dashes.

Strangely there was only one restart during the heats when Darren Mewitt had a biking moment and spun, that was the last heat.

Young Jason Kendrick was a man on a mission in the feature, he held second until about 3 laps to go when he had a small mistake on turn 2 allowing Shaun Bradford and Ken Sartori through, although Ken soon had a coming together with Bradford which saw Ken junk the car in a big way, Bradford sustained no damage and lined up outside of Kerry Madsen for the restart.

Kerry Madsen won from Shaun Bradford with Jason Kendrick third.

I must say the 92.9 cars looked quick all night.

We are running Manjimup next Saturday, hope to see you there.

Racer update - Carolyn Armstrong

Hi all,

Carolyn was at the Fast Friday meeting last night so I took the time to have a chat about her plans for this season.

Carolyn's car was destroyed in a big accident in Geraldton last season.
She has slowly been fixing her car and hopes to return to racing in the not too distant future.

The only thing needed to ensure a speedy return is an engine, if you are keen to see another fast lady driver on the track and would like to supply a motor you can contact Carolyn through the limited sprintcar club.

Subject to getting a motor Carolyn would like to run the big races starting with the Sprintcar Muster through to the Armstrong Cup.

Good evening all,

It has been a big day down at the shed, many visitors have come through to say hello.
Team Gavin/Jen Davis came up from Bunbury to pick up some wings for Darren Higgins in their new transporter, this transporter is going to be a nice unit when completed, it is huge, we chewed the fat over some ways to get the new motor back up to speed, it was a little disappointing last night, I reckon it was at about half the power it was before it went away to get rebuilt, we came up with a few ideas we will try for Manjimup on the 27th.
Then we had the Wodj's come in to talk turkey over some parts for Wodj's retransformation from shed to track take 2, although I must point out I am not inferring he is a shed racer in any way, he is slowly putting the car together as his budget allows, a sensible approach.
Then we had Chris Dicker from Mandurah Bolt Supplies turn up, Chris was wrapped with the performance of Michael Armstrong last night, Michael was on the pace all night and would have won but for a few unfortunate bangs which damaged his steering, Chris is also one of the sponsors of the upcoming trip East with Kris Coyle and also a sponsor of the SJ Crushing team, so Mandurah Bolt Supplies had a 1/2/3 result for the night, not a bad start to his year.

So to the results.
Heat 1 was on a track slowly hooking up, it was greasy during hot laps.
Glen Oliver was off pole with yours truly out of 2, Glen drove off into the distance with daylight a close second, then yours truly with Ian Dhu finishing 3rd.
Heat 2 had the 2 Watson Express 10's off pole and looked like they would run away with the heat, Watto pulled out early and Dhuy led the way for most of the heat with Michael Armstrong in hot pursuit, as they came up on Annette to lap her they baulked allowing Glen the chance to work his way under both of them, with the finishing order being Glen Oliver first, Ian Dhu second and Michael Armstrong third.
The feature saw the limiteds running with the 360's but we will only deal with the Limiteds.
Glen Oliver was off pole with Michael Armstrong off outside pole, Ian Dhu was off inside row 2 with tours truly off outside row row 2.
The track had absolutely no drive off the bottom of turns 3 and 4 so the inside row was never going to get away quickly, Michael Armstrong got the jump on Glen and I followed Michael away, it felt like we were pulling away as I could not hear another car close by, by mid race though the yellows came on, this brought out the double row restart and I was forced to start on the inside, at the start I watched Michael Armstrong drive away as I spun up in the slick area of the track, soon after Glen slid by me and all I could do was watch them up ahead.
Glen managed to get through into first as Michael sustained some damage in an incident with a 360 which caused him to slow dramatically on the last lap, Michael finished second with yours truly third, and this was the way the points went for the night as well.

Good evening all,

Well late Thursday evening and I think we are close.

Annette's car is ready and I hope she brings some spare underwear as this engine is no slug, she will be hard as for people to get past this week.
My car is ready but I had to put the wrong exhausts on as the new mufflers are a bit trick but hit the nerf bars, we ran out of time to fit them up so the rusty ones have gone back on.
The engine fired up straight away and other than some idle adjustment it ran sweet, fuel pressures are good for a change, so I guess we are in for a slow run around Kwinana to run it in then get it ready for Manjimup on the 27th.

It looks as though we will have 8 Limiteds running assuming Watto is running with us, should make for a good nights racing.
It will be good to see how far some of the new guys have come as we started at Kwinana first meet this season.

I believe the field will be
Dhuy, Annette, Shane Webster, Shane Maskel, Michael Armstrong, Glen Oliver, myself and maybe Watto.
Not to much missing in the way of speed in that list.

Tuesday night and still going hard in the cave.

Hi all,

Well at the end of work in the cave tonight we still have a way to go.
Annette's car needs some exhaust clamps on the mufflers and then firing up, check fuel pressures and fit up a new air cleaner, not a lot and we hope to have hers done early Wednesday afternoon, my car still awaits a new fuel pressure gauge and the mufflers clamping up and it too will be ready.
We are short on tires and rims, we used to have 4 spare right rears and now we are down too 1 for 3 cars, hard too believe that when people use your gear it is so hard to get it back, one was borrowed nearly 2 years ago and then the person just made it too hard to get it back, now we seem to have another that looks lost forever, makes you wonder why you let people use any of your gear.
We fitted up new tires this evening as Bunbury just chewed up all we had, the Davis boys used up about 7 tires between them as well.

We have around 7 cars racing at Kwinana this Friday possibly more, not bad for a non club meet, looking forward to running the motor in ready for a run at Manjimup on the 27th November, we have never raced there but believe it will be a balls to the wall track, we are really looking forward to it.

Nearly ready again.

Hi all,

Well after getting to the cave at 3pm we have slaved and have removed Annette's motor, cleaned her car, taken the motor from my car, put it into Annette's car, got Psycho and put it into my car, got my car ready to just put in a new fuel gauge and fire it up, after I change a couple of rear tires of course, as we cannot start the car unless we get a few wheels and tires to put on it.
Annette's car has the engine bolted in and only needs the radiator plumbed up and it will be ready to go as well.

Thanks to Jarrod and Chris from Mandurah Bolt supplies we are going to be ready by Tuesday night, then we can rest.

The chassis for our Speedweek trip leave Melbourne tomorrow so we should be looking at starting to assemble cars from next week, then we will be real busy.

Bunbury another great weekends racing.

Hi all,

Bunbury was another good meeting for the club but was a little disappointing in terms of car count.

We had 7 members turn up to race and as usual put on a first class show with some very tight and entertaining racing.

Heat 1 saw Gavin off pole and yours truly on the outside, Gavin got away to a good start and led through out, I followed him home in second with Todd third.
Todd had a spin during the heat and was collected by new member David Claydon who has moved down from the North and looks like he is going to be at the pointy end.
Heat 2 was Chris Ackland off pole and yours truly again on outside pole, Chris got away to a quick start and I was chasing hard, Chris spun in the first few laps and I led the restart away, I was out to a comfy lead and greeted the white flag looking like a winner only to spin coming off turn 2, I managed to keep it going and finished 3rd to Todd and Gavin.
Heat 3 saw Chris Ackland take a comfortable win ahead of yours truly with Gavin 3rd.

Going into the feature the positions were,
Annette Crabbe off pole/Chris Ackland outside pole/Steve Crabbe inside row 2/Todd Davis outside row 2/Gavin Davis inside row 3 and Mark Miller outside row 3.
Chris Ackland stayed untroubled out front with Todd and yours truly chasing hard to find a way past, Annette had engine dramas and pulled out after the first few laps of the feature.

Highlights;
Mark Miller has come out to play although with a big engine while he waits for a Limited motor.
Darren Higgins finished a race in his car but still has a few teething issues.
Chris "Mr Smooth" Ackland again was hard to stay up with.
Annette continues to get on the pace although the lowlight was her engine drama in the feature, which sees a lot of midnight oil being put into the Crabbe workshop lamps for us to burn changing motors.
Todd and Gavin are still right up there poking their noses underneath anyone who even slightly gets off the gas.
And last but not least is me, who has found some speed and is looking forward to keeping on moving up and being able to harness some of the power the 14 deg engines make.

Ahh Fast Friday bring it on. Fast Friday is not a club meet on the 12th November but there are a few of us going for the run, about 6 to 8 cars have said they are going.

Friday night and can you believe it "we are ready"

Good evening all,

Well if everyone shows up at Bunbury who have nominated we will have another 14 cars ready to rumble.

Team SJCrushing are packed and ready to go, only have to mow the lawn in the morning and then we are off.

I must correct a small error from my Narrogin blog, BT did not come off the infield on the corner, the whole incident is on YouTube and clearly shows we came together in the first half of the straight, so I withdraw my comments.

Hope we see a lot of spectators at Bunbury, we have been putting on a show at all our meetings this year and it is well worth the trip to come and watch.

So good luck to all this week, wherever you are racing, bring it on.

Octobers blog results.

Hi all

Do you know each time you come to this site you activate a counter, it checks if you have been here before and also a total number of visits.

It is mind blowing each month how many people visit.

In October we had 995 visits from 368 different people.
This is an average of 32 people per day reading or checking for updates.

The point of the above is not to gloat, it is to point out what a valuable tool it can be, why not send in some info on what you and your crew are up too, perhaps mention your sponsors, even what you plan to do and meetings you will run this year, if you are a club member and just run at the country tracks why not send in your results or any funny happenings, it would be good to keep people informed of your progress.

I have had a couple of calls today about Pshyco being for sale, the answer is no it is not, but yes it is pictured on Racing Junk and yes it is a picture of my car.

Jimmy Naylor is just using the pictures for advertising.

On the carby front, a few 360 guys and some limited people have asked about those, currently the best deal seems to be a Quick Fuel Industries carb from Chevpower, but check around to get the best deal, but I am sure Chev power will do a great deal for you, manifolds is another area, there are some very trick manifolds on the market at some low prices, check out JEGS web site then get one of the local boys, and again I recommend Chev Power to order one of the good ones from the US for you, it is cheaper to get parts direct but freight costs a lot if you just order small stuff and the economy is not there, but get in now as about dollar for dollar makes good buying.

Good evening all,

I was reading the latest SRN today and saw an article on Brisbane Speedway bringing a female racer into the country to race there.

It got me thinking about Annette racing and then Sarah Zeminuk and then Stacey Chisolm and then Caroline Armstrong and then "What is going on here"? We must have the most female racers in any single club/division in Australia, and all are capable of being fast, me thinks it's time to retire before I am outnumbered.
Seriously though what a great advert for our club, bring on more girls.

Hi all,

Team SJ Crushing had a great time in Narrogin.
Glen was working so could not bring the 45 car out to play, but Annette and I were able to make the trip in our Rolls Canardly truck and trailer combination, and given we have to go over the scarp/darling range there was plenty of the canardly, for those unfamiliar with this term, it means "rolls down one hill, can hardly get up the other", it was a slow trip up and back.

Annette continues to get faster, she has the car moving down the straights and is slowly getting the pace up into the turns, it was getting harder and harder to get by each race.
Annette had a 5th in the first heat a sixth in the second heat a sixth in the third heat and finished up rof in the feature, meaning she is near the top of the club points, we will soon have that changed.

My night was a bit better than last time out, I ran a second, a spin and come from the back fourth, then another second with a third place in the feature, we were running the leaders down in the feature but getting past them would have been an issue, I was a little out on the turn 1 entry and could not get it right.
In the feature I was introduced to the "bike track basher" who will from now on be known as BT. He crumpled my top wing with a radical inside maneuver that was never going to stick.

Well enough about me, now for the rest of the nights action.
Heat one was a fast affair with most of the fast locals up against BT.
BT was quicker on this occasion to record a solid win over Tony Bilman and Glen Carstairs.
Heat 2 was a stop start affair, soon into the racing Ian Dhu took a Kwinana outside line to be sucked into the wall, on the restart Stacey Chisolm tried to perfect the Dhu move and also got sucked into the wall.
Heat 2 was won by Chris Ackland with yours truly second and Mike Armstrong in third.
Heat 3 saw the locals take out first and second, Bilman from Carstairs with Shane (casual) Webster taking out third, Shane is still dialing in his loaner engines fuel system, but is getting quicker rapidly.
Heat four was more of the same with Chris Ackland winning over Dhuy who had replaced all the damaged bits and was keen to be in the mix, with Mike Armstrong taking third.
Heat 5 saw the Carstairs boy arrive at the pointy end for the first time this meeting with the old fella Bilman taking second over casual Webster in third.
Heat 6 and the Ackland team again stormed to the front to win ahead of me with Dhuy taking out third.

So to the feature we went, the top 6 were inverted for the start, which I loved because those local yokels were all behind me.
Starting positions were, Armstrong, Casual Webster, Rolls canardly Crabbe, Carstairs, old fella Bilman and Ackland, not sure about the rest of the line up though, sorry about that.
At the drop of the green flag Armstrong shot away with Casual on the outside with me behind, we worked hard to get by casual and just after that the smooth Ackland rounded me up and set after Armstrong, Mike Armstrong was holding a nice line but got a bit wide coming off turn two so I went by, at this stage one of the locals was starting to work me over putting his car inside and outside but we held him at bay, coming off turn four I noticed BT coming off the infield trying to get past and we had a slight moment of contact, as I drove hard away from BT I noticed a low purple satellite orbiting just above my car, the orange and red lights flicked on together then the oranges stayed on and the satellite landed and was shown the big round rump that always says "Go to the rear" lucky really as all that orbiting must have made him dizzy.
Well this all got sorted and unlucky for local yokel Carstairs as he was put back behind me and he had to work me over again, which he did successfully a couple of laps later and he held on for a solid second with Mr 100% Smooth Ackland taking the win, I finished third but was really getting the car hooked up and just starting to come on.

There were many highlights of the night but before we talk about those I would like to thank Narrogin Speedway Club on behalf of all the limited drivers, the track could have been prepared differently to suit us but it was not our night, we were there to support other divisions and we had a ball, it was a balls out night with lots of good clean racing and all passes were hard earned, even passing the back markers like "Cannon fodder Crabbe" was hard.
So to the highlights;
Hard to go past Mr Smooth here, no matter where he started from he got to the front, well done Chris.
Glen Carstairs and Tony Bilman also went really well and will be hard to beat at home, we would like to see you guys on the road this year, it was good to see Glen back after last years set backs.
Casual is slowly getting that motor sorted and put in his second best career drive, he was fast but needs that smoothness thing.
Michael Armstrong again was quick and is always at the front.
Bam Bam Maskel is starting to pick up some traffic craft and once this comes he will improve quickly.
Ian "outside line" Dhu put in some good races after repairing his car.
BT knows the shortest path is the quickest, but not for satellites as they crash into earth if shortcuts are taken.
Crabbe senior found some right rear bite and loved it, still cannot get this fuel thing right though.
The Chisolm's had a bit of an ordinary night but will get quicker this year.
And as we said already Annette is improving at a very fast rate.

Narrogin here we come.

Good evening all,

Well it's that time again and cars are being prepped for the trip to Narrogin.

This meeting last year I took out the Limited Feature Race at Narrogin, this year it looks a lot harder.
There are the local hotshots, Carstairs and Billman plus some I do not know, sorry, then there are the traveling hotshots, Gavin, Dhuy, Yours truly and Annette if you ask her.
I am sure there will be more than I have mentioned so come on out to Narrogin and watch some great racing.
We had 15 cars nominated but I believe we may lose a couple due to the usual speedway politics, wish this sort of thing was gone from our sport but it never seems to go away, enough about that though.

We have Annette's car all prepped and shiny ready to put on the truck, my car still needs a bit more work, we fired it up last night and fuel leaked from every new hose we had put on it, made for an interesting ride whilst trying to do up hoses by hand as I drove the car running back into the workshop, I had methanol in the eyes and a cab full of it, but we soon had the hoses done up properly this time and set about setting fuel pressures, by the end it was a crisp and angry sounding engine, amazing really.

Our gear that was ordered for the Kris Coyle Speedweek trip has left the USA this week and in the container we have almost 250 rear tires, when they arrive we will sell a few cheap to members of the 320 and limited club.

We still have the 358 for sale that is in the car in the container, the car is sold to a Northwester who shall remain nameless, but if the car is half as good as we believe it will be a weapon up there.

There is also a short motor in the container that is for sale, anyone interested should drop me an email and I can organize the details of the short motor to be sent to you, also the 358 details if you are interested, the 358 does not come with the injection though as we want to keep that for a special project we have in our shop.

Hi all

Just want to say thanks to the Bunbury branch of Blackwoods.

They have donated 2 tool boxes complete with tools for prizes this season.

A chest with tools for the Club Champion, Dhuy wants this along with me, Gavin, and most of the club.

Also a wall mounted tool chest for the winner of the Krikke Boys night.

There is more of the same but it is still unofficial at this stage.

Great to see our club being supported.

Look out for the newsletter that will be out this week, it would be one of the best club newsletters in the country, thanks to Shane Webster at 88deg for the great work.

Shed stuff.

Hi all,

Well today was shed day and with 3 cars in the wash que it was going to be a long day.
I turned up at 8:30am and Glen was already there, pressure washer in hand and going for it, amazing how some form can make you keen.
Glen is on the pace and with some help in the set up department he will be hard to beat.
Todd and Gavin Davis also appear to be fired up for a big season, Todd has already been on the fence literally this season.
Dhuy looks quicker and I think there will be any one of 10 or so of us pushing hard for the wins this year.
My blog Saturday morning said Dhuy was in Wattos car, they tell me it was Dhuy's car, and his picture in sprintcar world certainly shows him in a xxx.
Well in the shed today we got onto our favorite subject for discussion, Fuel Systems.
Despite numerous fit outs and changes we cannot stop my engine flooding at anything under full revs, so we got to the chat, 3 cars, each with a different way to get the fuel delivery right.
So we analyzed each system discussing fuel pumps, fuel line sizes, high speed pressure regulators, low speed pill canisters etc.
Then like a bolt from the blue it struck us, the pressure regulator on my engine is on the far end of the fuel log, this meant the carby feed pipes are on the high pressure side, then the fuel pressure is dropped and on the return to the tank is also the pressure gauge, the set up is as per the Barry Grant book but it is all that's different to the other cars, so after washing and removing all the power steering fluid it was off with the fuel system and we modified it the same as Annette's.
The next interesting topic for discussion was my chassis, Gavin and Glen reckon it is a Murphy, David Graham told me it was a J&J, we looked at all the bits and pipework and they almost had me convinced, however Jarrad says he saw the car come from Luche and it was purple when it got to the Graham teams workshop, so a J&J it is.

Well we have 2 cars ready to go but most of our team are away working for the next few meetings, Annette says she is going to Narrogin, Janette gets to drive the truck, this should be interesting to watch.

For me it is bullet dodging in Nigeria for a week.

So for all who want to race get up to Narrogin and support the club.

Fast Friday Wrap Up.

Hi all,

Well another season has opened up with our opening night at Kwinana last night.

Some of the cars had new paint schemes in the off season, of note were,
Michael Armstrong's car, black and signed beautifully.
Rob Watsons 10 driven by Ian Dhu, polished like a show car.
Gavin Davis new white and purple scheme looked fabulous.
Shane Maskel also in black with near flouro green sign writing.

We had eleven cars turn up and one was a 320, thanks to Troy Craig for making the effort.

Heat one was a torrid affair, Glen Oliver took it out with Todd Davis second and yours truly third.
Heat two saw Sarah Zemunic off pole shoot away with myself in hot pursuit, after closing up on Sarah going into the back straight and getting ready to work out how to get past my cab filled with lovely blue oil and that was it for me.
Todd Davis won from Gavin Davis.
The feature was on a very slick track with many near spins and some interesting maneuvers.
Todd Davis won, Dhuy second.

Overall nights results were,
Todd Davis first
Ian Dhu second
Annette Crabbe third

Dhuy has been to the Gavin Davis school of overtaking.
Glen needs some slick track tips.
Michael Armstrong needs some throttle control tips and ditto for new driver Shane Maskel.

There were 4 new drivers to our club out there last night and all raced well and held very good lines.
Sarah Z is no stranger to sprint cars, but the other 3 are all new and look to have the speed.

Annette has a head bigger than her car getting a third place trophy on her first night out.

Thanks for coming to all, another great night was had and good luck at Narogin on the 30th October, I will be dodging bullets in Nigeria.

Hi all

Guess I got the speedway net boys going again.

First to Mr Blockhead- your old motor has not been slagged, the reference to unleaded motor refers to the fact it's new owners crew filled the tail tank with unleaded fuel one night, horsepower 460 on the dyno, talk to Chev power, new owner never held it flat for a full lap, so my sensitive friend I will bring some concrete pills to Geraldton for you next time we are in town.
As to your mate, my motor was never passed by any of your members, none were at any of the meetings I ran it at, and as said before, skill will always win.

Finally to you knitters "harden up" most race with you because of 3 or 4 members in our club scare them, so what, these guys race wheel to wheel and have never bothered me with their tactics, one of them had a component failure last year causing a crash, other than that they never crashed into anyone, not to dangerous really is it.

Tim, Anthony, Gibbo and possibly Darren could hop in any of your cars and still be at the front, so what does that mean, it is mostly about skill.

By the way "Limiteds race for sheep stations" comes from your executive when we talk about the madness that is 1 strong club versus another not doing as well but close in speed and specs.

Like it or not common specs have to come, that is where the future lies.

We can fight it, we can slag each other, but reality, 15 or so years ago Limiteds changed to sprintcar quick changes, you guys did it 2 to 3 years ago, many years ago Limiteds went to 350 cubic inch, then the 320 club was born, it was from members who did not want to change or were unhappy with the club, now you are going to 350's, are you seeing a pattern here? Possibly we can go back, you can come forward, 1 club, 60 or so registered drivers, starting to sound like 358's in the USA now, they have hundreds of cars.

Well had my say and that's it.

Racing for Sheep Stations.

Hi all,

Who are the people in our club who are racing for sheep stations?
I have heard this many times since joining the club, now it is in a national speedway magazine.

How dare you race so hard, we need to start looking at some of the new buzz words that the education department use, an example is "deferred success", we could use it in our division this way "I did not lose the state title, I have just deferred winning it".

So there is now a class of sprintcars that you can join and defer your success as long as you like.

Thought I might look up the definition of Racing, it appears to mean "A contest of speed" except where you can go and race and have a contest that means you do not have to speed? In fact I guess we cannot call it a contest either, as a contest has a winner, maybe we can have "synchronised sprintcar racing" we could all just stay in order and roll around, we could do it on bitumen and then we would not have to wash our cars either. What is going on out there I ask.

It appears to me to be an easy thing to define:
To race is to try to win, the prize really does not matter, to race for sheep stations or to race to win for no prize at all, if you race you want to win.
Some of us, and I include myself in this, try to win but do not very often, we care but it is not the end of the world, that is racing for fun as well.

So I think the author of the story really meant " We do not race for sheep stations, and by this I mean there are not very many accidents in our division" and I can see how he has come to this conclusion, I reckon it is because there are so few cars in the division that it is hard for any to tangle up.

Come on guys, We don't race for sheep stations? Take up crocheting and knitting will you.

1 Week to go, the blood is pumping.

Well another stressful week has come to an end, the weekend is upon us and to the shed we go.

The trusty 45 has had it's usual neglect during the off season and is ready to go, it will appear at Practice this Wednesday for a final hit out before Friday is upon us.
12 needs some work on fuel pressure and idle speed, it needs it's new seat fitted and some final sign writing, then it too is ready.
77 well it is still sitting there looking very neglected, no seat, no panels, no fuel lines, valves still to be adjusted, timing still to be done, what a fiasco, just too much to do and no enthusiasm for the task.
Car 88w is also in our shed, it to looks sad and neglected, no throttle linkages, no radiator, no rocker cover breathers, what is going in this shed?

Hard to believe anything will be ready by Friday, but hey tomorrows another day, we are in the shed from after lunch Saturday and most likely will not surface until late Sunday, cars ready and looking forward to a big season.

Only one person has contacted me to ask about the eye and reflex testing, it was a joke, just wanting to see if anyone could work out who it was, I won't be telling anyone but the info is available on Facebook.

Hi all,

We will be conducting eye and reflex testing at Kwinana on the first fast friday.

It appears when the tests are being conducted by doctors there are some people getting through who really shouldn't.

Martin will be holding the eye charts and I will get to hit everyone with the 4lb reflex hammer.

We apologise in advance if this causes any stress to our drivers but when we cannot see race cars in our way it is one thing, but when we cannot see slow moving people on gophers then we are in serious trouble.

What are we to do with some of you.

News from the North- Geraldton first meeting.

Hi Crabby,

We had the first run for the season up here in Geraldton on the weekend.

Five cars turned up these included Andrew Pedlar in his new car, Cale Sotiroff in the Reg Wells Ltd car Robbie Stephens in the Pete Smith Maxim car, a new driver to the limited's in Anthony Gaudio in a ex Pete Smith car and Mick in the trusty old XXX.

The track was fast and very smooth and with the first time running with the transponders we where able to get accurate lap times.

With hot laps came Andrews problems with his car busting the water pump drive belt for no apparent reason, Mick lent him another one only to have that bust in the first heat and his night was done.

The first heat had Mick out of pole, Robbie from 2 Cale from 3 and Anthony of the back, Robbie took the lead and all Mick could do was watch him drive away as he was to tight to be able to mount any sort of challenge. Robbie 1st Mick 2nd Cale 3rd Anthony 4th.

The second heat had Cale on pole Robbie out of 2 Mick out of 3 Anthony of the back again as he did all night. Anthony spun on about lap 6 also bringing Robbie to a halt after getting a handy break over Mick. On the restart after much tussling over position on the restart Robbie was put back to 3rd and the race recommenced with the results being Mick 1st Cale 2nd Robbie 3rd Anthony 4th.

The third heat came only to see more excitement with Robbie taking the lead again Mick in Second for all of a couple of laps until the right front wheel, stub and part of the axel parted company from the rest of the car coming into turn 1 and Mick took the first tumble of the season. the results are Robbie 1st Cale 2nd Anthony 3rd

The feature had Robbie from pole Cale from 2 Anthony of the back and finished the same way.

The track was fast and smooth all night and a credit to Pete Smith, Jacko and the crew.

The laps scorers are having a few teething problems with running the lap timing system but it is proving to be a good investment with accurate times instead if the old cuckoo clock we had before, and will be sorted out properly for the next meeting. The sprintcars were getting down to low 13 second laps.

Anthony and Cale the two newest drivers to sprintcars in Geraldton are getting faster every time they hit the track. Cale a very successful junior driver and Reg Wells grandson and Anthony a first time driver who got hooked after driving one of Pete Smiths cars at a sponsors day up here, both will be drivers at the pointy end and cars to keep an eye on.

Bunbury Practice- a great success.

Hi to all,

Geez it's so good to have things to blog about again.

We were off in Bunbury last night for a practice meeting, the track was hooky and fast, a credit to the Bunbury Car Club, the track preparation was first rate. Thanks guys we had a blast.

So on to the happenings;
Team T Davis was there and had his race face on, I did not actually see him smile after a couple of runs, but I saw someone who knows some of last years woes are past and a look of steely determination that plainly said "bring it on, were ready".
Team Bam Bam were also there and true to their name Bam was what happened, first run a couple of laps in and it was BAM, a good whack to the front right to say "hello Shane, welcome to the club".
Team Crabbe Jr was also out and got her baptism of fire with a quick outside pass on her and then dropping in on her front just to let her know the practice is done- Race Face and Pace time now kid.
A couple of dry cleaners are in for a terrible Monday when Bam Bam's and Annette's suits turn in for dry cleaning, they will be smelling by then.

Team Crabbe Snr had a run in Annette and Gavin's cars as he was not keen on dirtying his own.
Now I must apologize to Kris Coyle here, he drove Annette's car in Tom Price to second, now I know why, I had it flat all the way around Bunbury for all the practice session, it was quick, there is nothing wrong with this motor, but a killer it ain't.
I hoped in the Team G Davis car and had a run as well, it is running the 358 motor Gavin brought out from the USA last year, this motor is not the best 358 in WA, Michael Armstrong has the best one apparently, but I can tell you all now, stop wasting your money on engines, these things go hard.
I will give you a couple of comparisons of engine's I have driven.
Rockas car with a Watson owned Speed Torque motor, big budget engine.
Bombak engine in Glens car, big budget engine.
Ex Shaun Bradford 360, now in Annette's car and much modified to up horsepower, big budget engine.
My 14 deg performance unlimited motor, ridiculously expensive engine.
My first car with Kendrick motor, budget motor though, and most fun to own.
And unfairly Phsyco.

Gavin's motor sits at number 2, it beats the bombak motor in Glen's car because it pulls off the turns as hard but still has more mid straight, Glens pulls hard off the turns but runs out by half the length of the straight.
The performance unlimited motor with 14 deg heads pulls strong, no doubt about it, but it is a lazy motor that will not rev, when it needs a freshen at the end of this season we will most likely just park it up, when you can get the performance you can from those 358's at the price you can get them for all I can say is what I said above, keep your money in the bank, buy one don't build anything else.

It is amazing how something like getting back into a car can lift you, we have had a hectic last few months and it was all I could do to stay awake driving to Bunbury.
After 2 runs I was awake, refreshed and just wanting more.
